Guido's Hand

About Me

Guido’s Hand is a vocal quartet dedicated to performing Early Music of the 14th-16th centuries. Guido’s Hand was formed in 2002 and has since performed at many venues and functions around Queensland.

The quartet explores the charm and splendour of renaissance music and, in so doing, recreate the evocative and rich harmonies that gave birth to modern music. Their repertoire is a diverse mix of madrigals, airs, and early sacred music as well as Australian works and modern madrigals inspired by this early tradition.

Guido’s Hand works under the tutelage of Réka Csernyk, a graduate of the Liszt Academy and director of award winning choir So-La Voce.

Among other events, Guido's Hand launched the VIII World Shakespeare Congress that was held in Brisbane, alongside distinguished actor Billie Brown.

The quartet includes two composers who write works for the group. Joseph Twist and Paul-Antoni Bonetti are both award winning Australian composers. Joseph has won prizes such as the Chanticleer Composition Competition and the Australian Voices Young Composer Award. Paul Bonetti is winner of the 2006 3MBS, APRA encouragement award and the University of QLD Percy Brier memorial Prize 2003. They have both worked extensively with Richard Mills and Orchestra Victoria for the Symphony Australia Composer Development program.
