South Orange County's SMALLWORLDBAND plays roadhouse rock and is influenced by Johnny Cash, U2, Matchbox Twenty/Rob Thomas, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Black Crowes, and Gin Blossoms. Please see our COMPLETE SONGLIST in the BLOG ARCHIVES.
Anthony performed as a featured artist at The Neighborhood Cup in Aliso Viejo on Valentines Day '09 and August 24, 2008 for "Cruisin' at the Cup", a Classic Car show. He also played at The Cup September 5th and 6th 2008 (hear "Memories in the Dark"). Anthony auditioned March 8th 2008 for Nashville Star where he performed The Wreckers "Leave the Pieces" and got one callback, but Nashville is safe for now. Nashville Star was on NBC this past summer.
Anthony was a featured artist at Songwriters Live March 27, 2008 and June 28, 2007 at the Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest. This is a great showcase for hit writers from Nashville, Hollywood and local OC songwriters. His lofty goals (not necessarily in order) include: developing into the best songwriter he can be, where people are moved to laughter and tears by his music, playing the legendary Coach House, having his songs heard by alot of people; over the Internet, Movies, TV, and especially live shows of ALL sizes. A veteran of the SoCal music scene, Anthony has been honored to perform with such varied acts as Hal Ketchum, the late, great Noel Redding (from Jimi Hendrix Experience), Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers, James Harman, Missiles of October, and his new friends, the brilliant songwriters of Orange County, LA and Nashville. He is inspired by his family, friends and musical heroes: Bono, Hal Ketchum, Rob Thomas, and the boys of SMALLWORLDBAND. Thanks to everyone for all the love and support!
SMALLWORLDBAND had a blast December 19, 2008 playing in San Clemente for Truth Soul Armor's Christmas Party and October 30, 2008 in San Juan Capistrano at Marco Forster School's 40th Anniversary Celebration! We are so proud to play for and be a part of our community.
SMALLWORLDBAND rocked the legendary Swallow's Inn in San Juan Capistrano August 14, 2008. We absolutely love to play there and it is always a crazy gathering of friends, cowboys, bikers, Marines, beach babes, etc. (see pictures).
On June 13, 2008, SMALLWORLDBAND played to over 1100 people and 800 In-N-Out burgers at our 6th annual Malcom School's Year End Event. On Feb. 29 2008, we joined Larry Bagby and his amazing guitarist Johnny Hawthorn at The Swallow's Inn for what was a special night of Roadhouse, Country, Rock and Blues. Larry starred as bass player Marshall Grant in "Walk the Line" and has appeared in many other films and TV shows including "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". On January 6, 2008, we played the OC Marathon for the second year in a row. This time in the rain, as 18,000 runners passed by. Thank God for tarps and towels. Shocking!
Check out this archive footage of "I Will Follow" from 2007:
SMALLWORLDBAND played the Venitian in Las Vegas on Thursday September 27, 2007. That was a blast! As the chandeliers shook, a distracted Rudy Giuliani was trying to speak in the ballroom beneath us. His frazzled assistant came charging our stage waving a note(see picture).True classic stuff! SMALLWORLDBAND rocked the good ol' Swallow's Inn in 2007 on both January 18th and August 2nd. That August gig, Larry Bagby (Walk the Line) sat in with us. In June 2007, we played to the masses at our annual Malcom School's Year End Event.
