" I HATE HIP-HOP KIDS!"

About Me

At the turn of the century, there was a band of women who were part of an aeronautical coalition known as the 99's that had a vision to change women's place in society. At the end of the century, an all new band of 99's are using the monikers as a nostalgic tribute to the coalition and taking up the torch as they forge a new path - a musical path - for women in the next millenium. With Mande providing gritty guitar riffs, Alaine's whaling bass, Gabrielle's killer drums and JJs pure punk hearted, hard core lyrics, the women of the new 99's will straight up rock you out of your seats.Previously known as the Devotchkas, original band members Mande and Alaine have been together since 1996. After taking on fill-in drummers here and there, the two found Gabrielle to take on the drum roll. JJ filled the lead vocal position after the previous lead singer and the group had creative and collaborative differences. Gabrielle and JJ brought synergy to the band. With their new found sound and line up, they decided to reestablish themselves as the 99's.Mande and Alaine are veterans of the tattoo mags, having already been featured in them before, and are even planning to get some new work from Mike Rubenthal of Davinci's Tattoo in Nassau County, Long Island, NY. Jay Kavnaugh at Lotus Tattoo, Sayville, NY, tattooed most of the ink on Mande and Alaine, along with various other tattoo artists around Long Island. Mande's favorite tattoo is the one in remembrance of her late father. Alaine likes all her tattoos, except for the one on her back . Don't we all have those? So where do the 99's see themselves in the future? ... JJ interjects once again that she would like "to be opening up for No Doubt, so that I can..." Well, you know. The 99's would have to be the best woman hardcore punk band ever known to man-kind This profile was edited with Thomas' myspace editor™ V2.5

Band Members: steph on vocals, mande on guitar, jon on drums and me,(alaine), on bass.we found a new drummer when jon joined the casualties, and since he already was singing for the Krays, being in our band would be somewhat difficult since he already had 2 other bands. so we ended going through 2 other drummers that didnt work out. now we have Gabrielle on drums and she completes our current lineup
Sounds Like: I would describe us as oi! influenced punk....we dont really get compared to other bands very often.
