About Me

.. .. ..

Grey

I was born on the 5th of November 1985 in Pécs, Hungary. My relationship with music started at a very young age, at the age of ten, when my mother enrolled me to the local (Liszt Ferenc) music school. There I learnt to play the piano, which I benefit a lot from until this day. It is hard to imagine how one with a background of classical music could get involved in electronic music. This was not the case at all! I never really enjoyed classical music, the home practice of music school tasks often ended up in the composition of own pieces. However, I completed the basic musical studies successfully.

Due to the major technical improvement around the end of the 90's, I had an opportunity to get acquainted with the new genres of electronic music (from techno to ambient) through foreign radio stations received on satellite (BBC Radio 1, Evosonic Radio). We had a great collection of tapes with musical materials recorded from these programs. Listening to these I realized that perhaps one day I could also become a "disc jockey". I didn't have to wait too long to have the technical equipment provided for this, since my older brother (Journey Blage) bought a three-lane dj mixer and within a year we also had two turntables at home. It was quite evident that his means were similar to mine.

As a result of my experience in music, I learnt mixing records quite easily (which can be acquired by nearly anyone with a little sense of rhythm). Since my parents are quite conservative, I had to wait until "I got old enough to go to a party", so I did not really have a chance to play in public for a while. In the time being my brother and I got into collecting vinyls, mostly financed by my brother. This had a great influence on developing my taste in electronic music. I have been into electronic music for nearly a decade now, so I could even say that I have a wide range of experience in all of its genres. My taste in music has improved quite a lot during the years, I have come to enjoy more elaborate, quality music, thus my sets are mostly made up of Deep Tech, Tech and Minimal House releases.

I do not really have role-models, but I acknowledge the work of all producers and Djs who provide something interesting for me. I see my future in making my own music. We have recently started a joint project with my friend (Dash) under the name THE TRICKY MONKEYS. My primary goal is to acquire all technical skills that are required to realize my own ideas and put those together in one track. I'd actually like to become a successful producer, which will require a great deal of work for now.

It all started with Amiga 600, then after a short trial I finished my first so called track with Protracker, which could already be called the rhythmic compilation of sounds blasting on four tracks. In the meantime I got acquainted with different genres of music (hip-hop, hardcore, even country music thanks to my father), when on a beautiful star-lit night I experienced an amazing journey to the slamming base-lines of House music. A few years later, after obtaining two belt-drive turntables I got involved with mixing tunes together, during which time PC-s also spread, and I continued making music with the Fastracker program. Then came Reason, resulting in several days without sleep, followed by VsT based sequencer programs.

I don't bare any musical training, all my work is founded on my own sense of hearing, in which Grey is a great and understanding partner, as the other head of our duo. My primary aim is to provide qualitative and modern electronic dance tunes to the world either individually or as part of other projects.
