About Me

I come from a background of musically inclined family with my parents being actively involved in the music entertainment circle during the 40's of pre-independence days. My father was a double bass player in the orchestra 'Rindu Malam', and mother was a singer who sings the Keronchong and english Jazz classics. My siblings of four are also actively involved in music. Of course, the music elements that seeped into our bloodstream affected everyone in the family...(kemana tumpah kuah kalau tak ke nasi, gitu lah!)

In the 70's, whilst employed in the Government sector, I was already active in singing and music. I was a resident singer with the National Electricity Board (also called TNB). I had my own band and after work, I sang in clubs and discotheques in Kuala Lumpur such as the Time Tunnel, Club 100 to name a few. I also made couple of teevee appearances in local dramas which eventually landed me into the big silver screen in late 70's. Films acted were 'Kisah Seorang Biduan' and 'Ribut DiHujung Senja', playing the lead role beside local big names.

In November 1979, I was selected in a singing audition by EMI Malaysia, and successful signed a 3-year recording contract with them. The three album titles were; Derita Hati KuTanggung Sendiri (1980), Biarkan Aku Bahagia (1981), and Asmara (1982), which produced the hit songs Derita Hati KuTanggung Sendiri, Kesedaran, Bunga Mawar, Asmara, Tari Bunga Rampai. Those events had thrusts me into the limelight centre-stage... (sape nak sangka....rezki!)

A remarkable years in my life as an artist. I grab the 'once in a lifetime' opportunity and quit my job!. My albums were more of Malay tunes with western pop influence in that era, whereby the recordings were all done in Singapore. (Semuanya dirakamkan ke piring hitam dan cartridge... waktu tu takde CD lagi. Pengalaman yang mengembirakan da whole family). It was a great and memorable experience for me. However, due to unrelated reasons, I got myself back to work

After that long break of 15 years from work and studies, I am back to my passion, the thing that I like doing most, re-establishing my presence in the music industry.

Currently, I am in a Big Band polishing my 'sax play' and doing my singing gigs performing in Kuala Lumpur and the outskirts. I've not gone commercially as yet. Well, at least not until I feel comfortable with myself and the new faces in the music and entertainment industry. I see no rush, as I am already walking the journey...God Willing.

Music Fuzz:

I enjoy listening to various good music of any in the world, be it ethnic, traditional, folk, country, classics, pop, rock, ballads, jazz, rnb, hip-hop, you just name it! However, I stick to my repertoire of ballads, jazz, latin. Mainstream, sentimental songs are my favourites and so are the majority of people out there. I listen, sing and play the alto-sax at random. I am no pro in sax. Man! it's tough, tuff...tuff but not impossible to learn this beautiful machine. It needs alot of practice, focus & belief, the bottom line is PASSION & PATIENCE.Serupa nanyi juga...
