RedWood’s hit single “Battle Cry†and debut LP RedWood's…God Invented The Remix, produced by ScootBeatz, introduced a unique rhythmic style that defined the new wave of music in the late ‘90s--R&B and hip hop mixed with an ensemble of samples held together by simple live drum patterns. At the same time, his partnership with friend Brandon Smith spear headed the very locally successful album "Changing of the Guard pt. 2†by Redwood Ent. Naturally, Redwood looked to Scoot to assist in defining them as artists and their work together, tracks such as “Never Get Rid of Me,†propelled RedWood to local stardom and critical acclaim.
Scoot Beatz trademark sound has spawned numerous imitators; however, he has remained the acknowledged originator. Given his talents, it was no surprise that he was able to start a new label in partnership with Redwood Ent, while delivering another three albums for Redwood, including 2003’s Redwood Mixtape. He also launched Jess, who debuted with JusJess, and produced Navigator's “Im So.†The Grind Associates relied on Scoot for “Thats Real.†Along the way he built RedWood/Six Ringz Studio's in Midwest City, OK. He does most of his production there and he regularly travels back to the West Coast.
Scoot's soulful sound has changed local the Oklahoma music scene today, and he takes pride in his success at staying ahead of the curve with his originality and experimentation. Confident and charismatic, his goal is still to blow the listener’s mind and make them move to the beat.
