Well, starting out with general information...My legal name is Katy. Its not short for anything like Katherine or Katelyn, contrary to popular belief. I just love it when I get those articles of unimportant mail addressed to Kathy Struss. *tisk *tisk.Like I dont Know how to spell my own name??
I am currently enrolled in college and I plan to double major in Fine Art and Art Education. It seems like it is taking forever but I should surely have one or the other soon. I have worked at Applebee's bar and grill since I was 17. I did quit for about a year or so and came back. Its a good job to have when your in school because they pay you decent and can be flexible with scheduling, which is important when you have a crazy schedule like mine. Deep down...I have to admit....me love the Apple World. Spending my days chopping and slicing and dicing and mincing and coring and measuring and mixing. There's always a pinch of this and a dash of that:)
I am also involved with the band Stone Crow. We play classic rock tunes. Everyone always askes me what I play and although I would love to have the patience to learn an instrument, I simply state that I play the vocal chords. This is the First band I have ever been in and it is so exciting. I couldnt imagine making music with anyone other than the guys. They're the coolest dudes I know other than my biological brothers.
Art and music are my two passions. Ever since I can remember, I have always been attracted to music and imagery. When I was a baby I have been told that when I would cry my other four siblings would sing to me. They would sing this really old tune by a man named Bill Murray. (not the actor from ghost busters) It was called "k-k-k Katy". They even spelled the name the same. The song went... K-k-k Katy, our beautiful Katy, You're the only g-g-g girl that we adore, When the moon shines over the c-c-c cow shed, we'll be waitin' at the k-k-k kitchen door. Hee hee, sweet huh?
..My whole family has always been artistic. Throghout my grade school days I always loved my art classes the most. Since the beginning, I have won several awards for art which has encouraged me to continue to make things. Going to college for art has really changed my outlook on what it takes to be an artist and I have learned so much about techniques and the different mediums. Some people may think that art is easy but it takes as much work as anything else to create a successful piece of art. It may look easy but when you actually get into all the different phases of making a work of art you quickly realize how frustrating it can be. There is a nice balance between love and hate which makes it awesome.
