Leroy Hyter, award winning songwriter, producer, musician, and instructor is known
as a musical extraordinaire that has traveled the world sharing his gift of music for
nearly 30 years in the United States and abroad. With natural gifts in the arts, he
developed his skill as a pianist, saxophonist, writer, and painter at an early age - all
of which he has successfully developed and continues to integrate through his
performances and teaching.His career as a recording artist, songwriter, and producer began in 1978 when he
joined the R&B group Al Hudson & One Way where he toured extensively across the
world performing on the same stage with such artists as Marvin Gaye, Barry White,
Heatwave, Kool & the Gang, Chic, to name a few. As a native Detroiter, later, Leroy
recorded with such notables as The Dramatics, the legendary Dells, and the Queen
herself, Aretha Franklin, prior to pursuing an independent music career as a solo
artist and producer in Detroit, New York and Los Angeles.....................................................

the piano can make as he beautifully plays genres that cover the gamut from pop, jazz, classical, to inspirational.
Many have often stated that when Leroy plays it sounds as if more than one person is playing. Others have stated
that you can listen to him play for hours and hours on end.As a professional musician, Leroy has performed with Phyllis Hyman, Melba Moore, Alexander Zonjic, Kirk Whalum,
Regina Carter, David McMurray, and on a number of television and film appearances with Bill Cosby and Barbara
Streisand, as well as served as Musical Director for SWV and Freddie Jackson. With years of experience playing
in the some of the finest restaurants from New York's Jezebel and Village Green Restaurant, L.A.'s Georgia
Restaurant, to Detroit's Bakers Keyboard Lounge, Sweet Georgia Brown's, Alley Grill, and Seldom Blues, Leroy is
no stranger to captivating any audience with his soul stirring and moving piano pieces or coordinating and
directing a jazz band of some of the top talent in town.As a writer and producer, Leroy has authored and co-authored many songs receiving a Gold Record and the
Nashville's Songwriter's Award for "When You Cry", recorded by The Winans. He also has written songs recorded
by Peabo Bryson, Regina Carter, Al Hudson & One Way, and other artists from the Detroit area........................................................

.................................The most unique attribute of Leroy is his ability to integrate his many gifts - artistic and intellectual - providing
incredible learning opportunities using music and music themed principles. One example is the integration of his gift
in visual arts with his gift of music creation which resulted in a self-produced and published Frederick Douglass
project. Another example is the integration of his ability to transfer key musical themes that provide effective methods
of learning to play the piano in a way that nurtures and develops the student's individual creative expression..................................................

..............................The Frederick Douglass project is a two-disc musical and spoken word piece, featuring Leroy’s original
compositions, that depicts one of the most dramatic readings of a speech given by Douglass in 1865 scored to
original music. This project alone has sold more than 3,000 copies.This Language of Music, an innovative approach to teaching the piano originated by Leroy, develops students of
all ages in the creative aspect of music, including composing, ear training, and scoring. To date, Leroy has
successfully shared this technique with over 100 students ranging from 6 to 60 years old.As a man of great principle and strong values, in addition to implementing his own projects, for the last 6 years
Leroy has served countless hours supporting ministries in the area of music in Detroit and Florida. He is also
