Jessica Star is a performer, singer, and songwriter based in New York City. Her original music is a blend of Country, Rock, and Blues. Whether she’s performing as a solo artist or with a full band, her moving vocals and guitar accompaniment totally fascinate and uplift her audiences.She is currently in production for her fourth album. She's working with NYC/Nashville producer Clifford Goldmacher and some of Nashville's top studio musicians including Vinnie Santoro on drums (Rosanne Cash, Rodney Crowell and Mary Chapin Carpenter), Dave Francis on bass ( Pam Tillis, Trisha Yearwood), Russ Pahl on electric guitar and pedal steel (Vince Gill, Johnny Cash, Patty Loveless) and Andrea Zonn on violin (Lyle Lovett, Vince Gill and currently recording and touring with James Taylor)Jessica's albums to date (of her original material) include: "Rising" recorded in 1996 at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley with producer, Bob Matthews (The Grateful Dead), and the late arranger, John Kahn (bassist of The Jerry Garcia Band). The musicians on this session include Mario Cippolina on bass (Huey Lewis and The News), Donny Baldwin on drums (Jefferson Starship), Pete Sears on the keyboard (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Starship) and an orchestra of strings and horns."Dragon's Lair" released in 1999 and recorded at top studios in the North Bay of San Francisco including Prairie Sun in Cotati and Laughing Tiger in San Rafael. This album features Jessica’s touring band and three songs recorded solo acoustic with Jessica singing, as well as playing guitar and didgeridoo."Solo" released in 2002 and recorded solo acoustic in Graton, CA features ten songs with Jessica singing and playing guitar, didgeridoo and clay flute.Some of the venues she’s played in NYC include B.B. King’s, The Knitting Factory, The Village Underground, The Bitter End, The Red Lion, and CB’s 313 Gallery. Some of the Northern California venues include The Maritime Hall in San Francisco, The Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, The Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa, and The Mystic Theater in Petaluma. She’s performed at the Burning Man festival in Nevada almost every year of the nine she’s attended and performs at both the NYC and San Francisco Burning Man Decompression Parties. When asked why she plays music and what inspires her she says,” I love the energy, adventure, and magic that has come into my life by following my musical path. I’m inspired to make the world a more joyful place by weaving my music into it!” Jessica has been compared to Joni Mitchell and Janis Joplin while her original musical inspirations come from early Cat Stevens, Johnny Cash and all the good music that came out of the San Francisco Bay Area from the late 60's-70's.
