About Me

..This page was made in memory of Chris Sandy. He was following his dreams…………………………What can you say about a man who was here fulfilling his destiny? Utilizing his god-given abilities, living up to his fullest potential, Chris Sandy knew his purpose in life and spent every day determined to do his best, not taking anything for granted, ever.Chris was born on August 23, 1978 in Brooklyn New York By cesarean section at St.john’s Hospital. As a youngster and called the Boulevard Houses in East New York his home. He began to nurture his love for Basketball as a member of the Kim All-Stars under the guise of Coach Kim Walden. A born leader, Chris learned the importance of sportsmanship and always making his team better. He carried this attitude with him, leading Newtown High School to a 26-1 record as their star Point Guard, where he was named All-City and runner-up for New York City Player of the Year in 1998. He continued to hoop at West Ark Community College in Fort Smith, Arkansas and was named JUCO College Player of the Year and selected to the National Junior College Athletic Association Second-Team All America and the All-Tournament Team. His superior defensive and shooting skills caught the eye of legendary Coach Jerry Tarkanian at Fresno State where Chris was recruited to be the starting Point Guard. Stints with the Brooklyn Kings, touring with the infamous Harlem Globetrotters and playing for the ABA’s Strong Island Sound culminated into the opportunity to play professionally in Finland for one of the top Finnish teams Kouvot of Kouvola where he averaged 18 points and was third in the league with 3.9 assists per game.Chris was a very loving, energetic man, funny, handsome, honorable, and trustworthy. He had his ear to the street and on the pulse of the latest music. He was a brother to everyone and loved his people. Every person that he came in contact with, he influenced their lives in some way. His passion was to play in the NBA and he knew in his heart that he could play in that league.Chris led a very spiritual and clean life. He believed if you have a dream don’t give up on it, work hard because nothing comes easy. Be a stand-up individual and live by your word. Stay focused, don’t get crazy, handle your business, take care of your family and always take care of those who take care of you.We love you Chris Sandy. Your spirit lives on in the hearts of everyone you touched and will continue to shine bright for a lifetime. Rest in Peace...
