Mutant Soul is musician / DJ / John Vose, previously guitarist in The Storm Tapes (split up in May 2007)The Mutant Soul project was started as a home studio passtime between studio sessions and live work with The Storm Tapes, more recently Vose has worked alone with a revised and minimalised home studio setup, memories of Akai samplers, 32 channel analogue mixing desks & banks of outboard effects and compressors now thankfully a distant memory?The myspace phenomenon has provided the motivation to get this stuff listened to by as many like minded people as possible.Has making music got faster with the advent of cheaper and better digital audio equipment enabling us to create loops & beats and access any sound in seconds? most definitely.Has the music industry changed forever with the advent of new music making technology available to many and the medium to share it with the world in seconds? for sure.Has the standard of music increased as a direct symptom of the above two points?, answer a question with a question, did everyone that ever paid top dollar to record in a world class studio in the 60's & 70's always end up with a world class record? Of course not.Myspace could lead you to believe that the world of music that has always existed is now so over saturated to the point where everybody you know has a band, or is a producer, or a dj, and wants a record deal, or doesn't want or need a record deal, but the fact is the same as ever, great music is instantly recognizable, and shit still smells like shit.If you love what you do then never give up.The profile currently offers 9 new tracks.Let me know if you have any comments on these tracks, feedback is good.
