“Hey wait! – Can I get your autograph?â€
A few seconds pass
“Us?†(as Solo 67’s Matt Bishop & Chris Romain look around behind them for a member of one of the popular bands on the tourâ€
“Yeah! I just listened to the record you sold me in the parking lot a few minutes ago.
You guys are going to be huge!â€
The following dialogue played itself out time and time again inside and outside concert venues across the United States during the summer of 2008.
Sharing a D.I.Y. work ethic similar to bands like Mayday Parade and Never Heard Of It, Solo 67 spent the hottest and most exhausting summer of their lives following the 2008 Vans Warped Tour selling their band’s new debut full length CD “Everybody Has To Know†both inside at Warped Tour Merch Booths, and outside to people tailgating in the parking lot. The band even played on several of the Warped Tour Venue’s properties, each time to enthusiastic crowds of over 300 people.
Perhaps Cooper Omundson, Solo 67’s drummer, summed up the experience the best when he said, “Crashing the biggest and longest running summer music festival in world when we weren’t originally invited is definitely a very punk rock thing to do, we made some enemies but a lot more friends and most importantly new fans. Overall it opened up a ton of doors for us, which is great because we are full time musicians and are 100% dedicated to this band. The ironic thing is we consider ourselves a bit more of a rock band now then a traditional punk band!â€
Whatever genre Solo 67 is a member of, it seems the trio originating from North Texas are well on their way to belonging to something else as well – the top of the charts. In 2008 the band was thrilled not only because they appeared on the Purevolume “top artists†charts multiple times, but also were able to get endorsed by Moss Amps and Brady Case.
With Solo 67 now in the midst of booking their rigorous full time 2009 North American Tour schedule, 2009 should prove to be the year that “Everbody Has to Know†about Solo 67.
