About Me

"TiDi", "In The Daylight", "Back to London" & other songs are avaliable as free downloads at www.mp3.com.au/TimDickson
Tim Dickson is a performing musician, recording artist, and guitar teacher from the Southern Highlands NSW, Australia.
Tim has over 16 years of experience in several different areas of the entertainment industry. He is accomplished on many different instruments, has been teaching guitar since 1996, has over 10 years experience in live sound & lighting production & records, mixes & produces his own music.
1997 – 1998: Tim studied an associate Diploma in arts/music at TAFE, under the guidance of master guitarist Kell Goya & Dr of music Michael Barkel. Tim took on two years of full time classical guitar & part time piano. During this time he embraced recording & composition, scoring & performing music for local theatre productions and organising youth events for local bands. He also formed his first band “Aeon” which fused elements of classical music with gothic & punk styles. This study gave him a solid grounding in solo performance & composition which to this day enables him to create music with a deep understanding of guitar techniques, composition, melody & phrasing.
1999 – 2000: A change in direction as Tim moved to Sydney, where he endeavoured to push forward into electronic music & sampling. During this time Tim developed his P.C recording style & DJ skills and began working on what would eventually turn out to be the “In the daylight” Album.
2000 – 2001: Upon returning to the highlands Tim formed a three piece heavy metal band “Grindstone”. Grindstone went on to perform several gigs, festivals and parties in the highlands area (Goulburn, Bowral, Camden etc.). Grindstone recorded a 6 track EP “Louder than the fuzz” before the individual members decided to go their separate ways.
2001 – 2005: During this time Tim worked in live Production for M.H.B acoustics as a lighting tech, stage hand, fold back mixer & rodie. Angry Anderson, Diesel, Ian Moss, Dave Tyce & Mark Evens, The Sydney tattoo show & The Party boys, were just a few of the artists that Tim worked for. He also did several extended tours with Australian show bands including The Shania Twain show, The Australian Kiss experience, & the Buddy Holly show.
After several years of band work Tim completed his first solo album “In the daylight”. This was a huge leap forward from his previous work as it was totally self motivated & funded. He performed or programmed every instrument (Vocals, Guitar, Keyboard, Bass, Mandolin, Turntables, Drums & percussion & drum programming) & is very proud of it.
2006: The year Tim came full circle returning to his roots in expressive emotive guitar music. The album “Introvertical” covers a wide range of styles & influences, but at its core is always solid melodic guitar music. “Introvertical” is Tim Dickson’s definitive statement of guitar expression and should appeal to fans of instrumental guitar in particular Joe Satriani, Pink Floyd, Carlos Santana, Led Zeppelin, & John McLaughlin.
2007/08: Teaching guitar, recording & playing gigs. Tim Is currently working on a new album, which will be his most diverse yet, Blending everything from Indian classical to Death Metal, to Ambient Jazz to commercial pop.
Tim is also running a open mic every Sunday afternoon @ The Sutton Forest Inn. If your a musician & keen to perform just send a message or post a comment.
