In Theory is a five-piece original rock band born and raised in Toledo. All five members not only grew up together in the same neighborhood, but were hanging out together long before they started writing and performing as a band. Since the late nineties the members have rocked out together under various band names and music styles.In 2006 they became In Theory and took a more dedicated approach to having fun, getting their music out and fine-tuning their song writing skills. The main priority of In Theory is to have fun on stage and provide music fans with good music and a great live show. In Theory has made accomplishments such as winning the 2009 Rock category of the Toledo Blade's Battle of the Bands, 1st place in the 2009 Regional Superstar Competition and being the proud writers of the Toledo Walleye Hockey Intro/Theme Song' "Suit Up".The band brings to the table a wide range of musical backgrounds, styles and influences. From church choirs and marching band to heavy metal and industrial. The song styles never follow a particular template either. Whether it is a southern rock feel, a sappy ballad, a chunky metal groove, or a goofy pop tune, In Theory has got it.The group shares many of the same influences that other local bands have. Some of the more obvious artist are Metallica, AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Rage and Hendrix. But, In Theory has a number of influences that many would not realize or even understand. Artists such as Bruce Hornsby, Carter Beauford, Sevendust, Beck, Ramsey Louis, Donovan, Ben Harper, Richard Patrick, the DeLeo brothers, just to name a few. Influences do not have to be objects or people to mimic, but simply inspirational in some form.In Theory does not claim to be 'breaking new ground' or 'cutting-edge' like so many other local bands claim. They are just good, fun music in its purest form. To anyone who has seen an In Theory show, they will know that this band 'Brings It' and delivers.
