In the summer of 2006 five friends from Stockholm got together and discovered that they all had something in common – the love for blues and roots music. Sharpnotes became the result of this passion.
The band, influenced by artists like Magic Sam and Howlin’ Wolf, soon made a name for themselves in the blues society of Stockholm and have performed at highly regarded venues such as Jazz Club Fasching and Mosebacke Establishment. This year they also got nominated for the “Janne Rosenqvists memorial prize†– one of Sweden’s finest blues awards.
The band consists of the relatively young yet experienced members Verner Westlund on vocals, John Bernstrom on guitar, Mattias Lindstrom on keyboards, Carl Greder on bass and Magnus Olsson on drums.
With focus on energy and rhythm Sharpnotes does not only entertain, they are vital proof of that the blues is alive and well.
