About Me

I like Totoro at five in the morning. Other than that, I'm fairly square.

My Interests

Non-elliptical writing, embarrassing and not embarrassing my Bell, opening Moofia cartons, large-engine jet aircraft, music, Douglas Coupland, and watching this guy beat-mix in his birthday suit when he's not solving his Rubik's Cube:

I'd like to meet:

Toe Cutter and Lord Humongous

Music:

"non-stop."

Movies:

Man Bites Dog. Dig. Spun. Open Water.

Television:

Nothing will bring the world to a screeching halt faster than the moment I discover there's a beauty pageant on Telemundo.

Books:

I learned a couple of weeks ago that the Irving Public Library has had me listed under fugitive status since 1994. Apparently, the librarians have since acquired modern technology which recognizes all of my past library identities as one. I get sidetracked by reference books -- specifically The Dictionary of Symbols. I've been reading jPod by Douglas Coupland for an embarrassing amount of time now.

Heroes:

Bad dancers, labor amazons of the thirties, and Mom.

My Blog

My Crustacean Grandchild

Bella walked slowly to the car with a Tupperware container full of something lobster-y. As it turns out, today marks a momentous occasion: I'm a grandmother."Alright, so I take it you got the crawfish...

TWP

"We are known by the company we keep." I’m sure Senator Obama heard those annoying, teen angst-provoking words just as often from his custodial grandparents as I did from my mother. However, my ...

Bella and the F-bomb

The Unlikely Fairy visited yesterday.Exhibit A: Mom, The Bell, Russell, and I attended Riverdance at Nokia. I’m fairly certain that Kristan circa 1989 is dead from the shock of that alone. Keep...

Barack O’Come Lately

President Bush is sober now, but he's still rattling off like a drunk loon about our economic crisis. He says he doesn't think we're headed into a recession, although he senses things are "slowing dow...

Pink Bra/Baby Blankie

Yesterday Bella stayed home from school with the flu. Halfway into our third movie, she asked me: "Mom? You know that thing Nana does with her bra?"I wasn't sure where this was headed."You know.""Help...

Urine Starr

I'm sitting at Starbucks in Grapevine and feeling underwhelmed by the smell of get this, urine. Yes, urine. Surely, there is no reasonable excuse for that. I mean, I just paid somewhere in the neigh...

Ringo. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Ringo Starr just appeared on David Letterman. I ordinarily drown out this sort of background junk, but the lyrics were so terrible I had to gawk a bit. "I was a sailor first, I sailed the sea/Then I g...

The Spears

There are many important things going on in the world today, but before eight am, both Mom and The Bell had already asked the twenty-four million dollar question: "Did you hear? Jamie Lynn Spears is p...
