About Me

i stumbled upon the idea that would eventually become the broken bastards sometime back in 2000. i was in my uncles living room, drinking beers and swapping songs on my buddys acoustic, both of us bitching about putting a band together, both of us a little drunker than we should have been for that time in the afternoon.i had been trying for way too long to put a punk rock band together that was worth a fuck, he wasnt having any luck with his attempts at a reggae band. so we decided to do something together, the punk rocker and the rastaman, something folky, something neither one of us felt like we could do in our "regular" bands, something to pass the time, thats all it was, really. so we decided to work on some real tunes, and it felt perfect, so much better than any of the million bad ramones ripoff songs i had written before. that same afternoon i penned our first song, "left behind", a tragic tale of a broken hearted young man who met his demise in "a dark dirty alley where brave men fear to tread"-yeah it was kinda corny, and a bit of a rip off of quite a few songs, but what the hell, im still kinda proud of it. we recorded a three song demo that same year, which one reviewer compared to "late social distortion"- not the first or last time i'd be compared to my heroes, which is ok i guess. the same demo led to our first and only gig as "the throwbacks"- on an mtv style youth culture bullshit kind of show called "kaos" in santo domingo, dominican republic- my rasta buddy and bass players home town.
