Jason LaPrade's uniquely clear, expressive style on dobro, guitar, and lapsteel has won admiration and praise from the “old guard†of Canadian folk music, as well as from many dynamic, up- and-coming artists. Jason is a sought- after session musician, performing on albums for the likes of award-winning instrumentalist Oliver Schroer, award-winning songwriter Rosemary Phelan, star-studded Toronto band The Great Atomic Power, and many others. Formerly of popular alt-country band The Jayne Waynes, Jason currently performs regularly with Rosemary Phelan, The Great Atomic Power, Toronto/Nashville- based The Stellas and others.
As a recording engineer, producer, and live sound technician, Jason has earned the respect of artists from all over North America for his amazing talent in capturing the essence of acoustic performances, and helping artist's work to truly shine. He has recently wrapped up recordings for award-winning songwriter Jon Brooks, and promising newcomers Asetha Power and Amy Pitt.
Jason currently resides in Toronto, Ontario. As well as recording services, his sound company, Crystal Clear Sound, provides live sound for many of Toronto's premiere acoustic music venues such as Hugh's Room, Acoustic Harvest and The Flying Cloud Folk Club.
