Tameika Charmaine Thomas entered the world on November 15, 1976 to her father, Chavis, and mother, Connie. Tameikas adolescent years were spent in various cities throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. As a result of living in a single parent home for most of her childhood, Tameika learned from her mother to be a self-sufficient and independent young lady traits that would serve her well later on in life. A fastidious student, Tameika could consistently be found at the top of her class, and graduated with honors from Wayne Memorial High School in 1994.
Tameikas father Chavis loved all things musical, and possessed an extraordinary talent in this area that Tameika discovered early on in life was inherited by her. The younger of two children, Tameika demonstrated a passion for song and dance almost from the moment she learned to walk and speak. As a child, Tameika and her bother Chavis, Jr. (who was one year her senior) choreographed numerous song and dance routines that entertained their family and friends. Under the direction of her older brother, Tameika spent countless hours emulating the many of the popular female artist of the day.
Not one to rest on the laurels of childhood, as an adult Tameika began taking her passion for music to the next level by following her dream of one day becoming an acclaimed musical artist in the line with those she imitated as a child.
To achieve her musical goals and further develop herself as a songstress, Tameika has continued to study the art of music. She has taken voice lessons under the tutelage of Professor Kimberly Haynes and Jesse Richards, and continues to study an array of musical topics, including classical voice, jazz, songwriting, entertainment law, self management, the history of music, music theory, and the effects on music on contemporary civilization. Tameika has also participated in several musical competitions, including American Idol, the Next Superstar, Gimme the Mic Detroit, and the City of Melvindale Downriver Idol contest, where she was the 2nd place winner.
Tameika defines her style as a mixture of Rhythm and Blues, and Neosoul. The soulful songstress has many musical influences, and is constantly expanding the artistic horizons of her unique musical talent.
Believing that her talent is a gift is to be shared, Tameika sums up her artistic philosophy by stating that My music is a way to express myself, my feelings and passions, while at the same time touching, soothing, caressing, and healing the hearts, minds and souls of others.
