Jeminye Biography
Being an inspiration to many, from establishing his musical empire within his own hands, much gratitude is still anticipated from the partners Jeminye has worked with along with all his clients who have supported him in this astounding movement.
Aspirations in music began to pursue back in 1991 when Jeminye started out as an MC with a collective called Gunshot International, later known as Black Onyx. After a year of playing his role as an artist, Jeminye attempted his interest in DJing and when he made his first effort on the decks, he hasn’t stopped spinning since his amateur days.
Jeminye soon left Black Onyx as he felt he was restricted into pursuing his dream of playing worldwide, and was determined to flex his newly found skills. After joining many sound systems across Bedford, Luton, St.Albans and London, Jemz felt there was too much conflict between talents he worked beside so he decided the only way forward was to go solo.
Whilst hustling his talent across the scene, Jeminye’s determination led him into supporting artists such as Glamma Kid, Hinda Hicks, Queen Pen and span alongside DJ’s Rampage, Crucial Robbie, Chris Goldfinger plus many more. Being a natural entertainer to his audience and a musical lockdown between himself and the mic, the recognition in his craft gave him a stronger initiative keep moving as a soloist.
Jeminye wasn’t the only talent amongst his family, his younger brother known as MC Swarve Da Wizard began to attend sets where together they worked as a great entertainment duo. From dancing, MCing and being general stage clowns, Jeminye decided suggested to make their movement official and formed a sound system of their own, the Frequency Cru.
This movement was slowly built to function as one, and it felt like they were re-establishing a new Jeminye as people had to now get used to their name. Frequency Cru joined Street FM in London and worked graveyard shifts to help boost their recognition and it wasn’t long before they had regular daytime shows.
As work loads became demanding, Frequency decided to strengthen their team by looking for more DJ’s and MC’s. Within time DJ Deon Smoove stepped in and after his audition Jemz found that they had a lot of similarities and their musical outlooks put together would do nothing but move forward, so moving forward they began.
The crew went from strength to strength thanks to Smooves global connect. Frequency Cru continued to support big shows such as Nas, Jay-Z, Destiny’s Child, Kelis, Capleton and toured at festivals across Belguim, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, South Africa…just to name a few!
Once Frequency left Street FM they went to play at Y2K FM (90.6) and then on to an internet radio station, www.londonliveanddirect.com. During this time they found that a lot of up and coming artists were sending them material so they decided to encourage their sets to initially support these artists on both radio and club sets. Work overload soon became persistent and whilst DJ Deon Smoove was representing the Frequency Cru abroad, the rest of the crew stayed behind to continue with forthcoming projects.
Now residing at Smoke FM (www.smokefm.com) Jeminye has pursued more than what he intended from the start. Whilst still supporting the more un-established artists, Jeminye has now developed into another venture of being an DJ and Artist Agency www.myspace.com/frequencydjampartistagency where artists on their roster includes, DOCTOR (UK), SWARVE DA WIZARD (UK), ADDIKSHUN (UK), DANIELLE SENIOR (UK), BLEMISH BLACKSTORM (UK), MAGDA SINIT (UK), ONE SAMURAI (UK), ILL TWINZ FRANCHISE (UK), JADE FOXX (USA), DJ CLARK KENT (USA), DAVID CRAIG (UK DJ), DJ MISS QT (NL DJ), DJ BATTLE (NL), ZEROSCAPE (CANADIAN ROCK GROUP)
Other services Jeminye works on are Frequency Distribution, partnership in IceJemz Productions (www.myspace.com/icejemz) and an online music specialist store, Forward Move (www.myspace.com/forwardmoveonline / www.forwardmovereggae.com)
With all these projects creating an astounding empire, the only future in store for Jeminye is an exceptional phenomenal one!
