About Me
I was born in northern Illinois in a city called Harvey in USA. I have also lived in Chicago (south side - Beverly), and LaGrange Park, IL. We moved back-and-forth to northwest Indiana at various times in my life. The cities in Indiana I lived in are (in order) Roselawn, Hammond (4 yrs - including highschool), Gary, Lake Station, and now, Bloomington.
Now, I must say, I know Indiana has a lot of negative stereotypes associated with it (most of which are true), but Bloomington has been proving itself as quite the exception! Like a little oasis of beauty, diversity, and respect amongst a desert of... well... corn, rednecks, hilljacks, inbreeders, racists, and more corn (theres still nothing to do here except for bars or being a geek on the computer). I've tried to not be so critical and judgmental - living here has helped. I actually quite like it here. I like the possibility of large, affoardable property in a beautiful setting.
Okay, the fun stuff. I also lived a total of maybe 6 years in Budapest, Hungary. I moved there when I was about 6 yrs old initially, but my parents split up, and so I moved back to USA to live with my mom and sisters. I also started University in Budapest.
I also spent 6 months in Athens, Greece. My father and step-mom lived there a few years, and so I decided to do a semester overseas there to check it out for a while. If you visit Greece, my suggestion is to stick to the islands - or just skip Athens. The Acropolis is NOT worth it.
So just dont ask me where I'm from, or what's my hometown, as these questions are far too vague. I'm sure you can see why!!
Okay, extras.
Schools - I've been to religious (Christian) schools, public schools, and even homeschooled. I've been to schools in wealthy areas and also in lower-class areas. I am glad to have had such a wide range of school settings, however I never really cared for the Christian schools. People tended to be so close minded and even quite creapy at times. I must say I'm rather biased, and don't have much respect for western Christianity. I love Eastern religions. They don't tend to try to convert you, like a cult. I just dont appreciate anyone who tries to convice me to think like them. Suggestions are always nice though.
My mother owned a petshop for ~4 years in Hammond. It was wonderful for me, as I pretty much got to run the thing, since she kept busy grooming dogs with my (ex)step-father. We delt with all kinds of exotic animals. My specialty/fave were the snakes, reptiles, and strange stuff like tarantulas and scorpions. I even started breeding some snakes and geckos! This is what sparked my interest in Biology, as I then wanted to become an Exotic Animal Vet. I even today REALLY want to get into a DVM program. Please accept me if youre reading this, admissions board!
Here is my other passion, though. In Europe I was introduced to Goa/Psychdelic Trance Music. This completely changed a lot of my life. I started a whole new self, in many ways. Went from a love of hardcore heavy metal (yes, Pantera, Sepultura, Black Sabbath etc.), and other heavy rock music, to a love of this super fast/crazy/energetic music. Went from a sad, pissed off life to a happy, increasingly motivated life. Brainwashed me. It was all Infected Mushroom's fault! Check out their music if you never have, but I must warn you, ever since Duvdev started singing Infected Mushroom's been going downhill. Personally now I'd rather listen to the artist Shift.
So now, I'll just sum up me for now. I love Goa still, with a passion. I want to learn to DJ properly. I want to learn to belly dance. I want to learn everything I can about anything I can. I want to replace all the negative thoughts/feelings/deeds/situations that have come across my path with positive ones. I want to learn more about the mind. I ... shit, forgot what I was saying...i'll finish this later.
Basically, I am trying to figure out what to do with my life. I have quite a few strong interests, which makes this a hard decision. I have decided what I would be happiest with is to pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. My other interests are Neuroscience, Holistic/Natural Medicine, Botany, Mycology, and Anatomy.
The man I love just started his own agricultural company, farming portabella mushrooms! Homegrown Mushrooms Inc. used to be known for offering the most quality, natural portabellas last year, and soon will be moving on to more exotic mushrooms, hopefully in 2008!
Here's an update on my family.
Haruka Orth (older sister) , is a model and actress in Tokyo, Japan. She is also looking into starting a production career.
Here's Pictures of Haruka
Ivy Orth (younger sister) is a second year University student at the London College of Communication, UK.
Jeanne Carr lives in Chicago with her wonderful new husband.
Victor and Renata Orth (my father and his new wife) live in Dubai, U.A.E. It is a really great place. Beautiful in the winter, but I wouldn't want to be there in the summer!
Athina Renata Timea Orth (my new sister) was born in March 2006! Dont know much about her yet. She's very cute and very smart.
Oh, and our cats: Hydro recently died, either of anorexia or Iams being killers. Now we have two cats, Momma Gaia and Agaricus (peach/blonde kitten). Gaia is only a little over 2 years old and has had two litters, the first of which gave us Agaricus.
Ziggy is our new Akita/Chow puppy. He is about 7 months old, and very well behaved! He still likes to chew on our hands a bit, but he's still just a puppy. And at least he listens when we say no. He is extremely social and loves to play with every person and animal he comes into contact with!
Oh - can't forget Godzilla/aka the Dinosaur. He's a Bearded Dragon. He needs to get laid. Anyone have a year old female they want to get rid of?
Oh, and I used to make fun of people on MySpace - but now I like it. Really beacause of all the new music I get to hear. I just wanted to admit to my shit-talking...
Plz bare with me Im trying to make this thing look better and my html is a bit rusty.
These pictures are from graduation (though actually I am finishing my last year now - I just walked early). The pics include me (usually making a goofy face) and my family (with naturally goofy faces).
