To bring joy, laughter, and hope to young people struggling with leukemia. - Anna's Legacy Mission S

About Me

Anna Michelle Collar was born August 26, 1980 in Powell, Wyoming, and grew up in Darrouzett, Texas with her mother, Cathy, father, Randy, and two sisters Brandy and Jennifer. Anna was very active in school, participating in a number of activities including cheerleading, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FFA, basketball, tennis, yearbook and writing for the Panther Spirit newspaper. She won numerous journalism awards, was a member of National Honor Society and was crowned Miss Lipscomb County in 1997. She graduated from Follett High School in 1998 and then attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, before transferring to Amarillo College.Anna had a passion for life and a smile that lit up any room she entered. Her friends and family remember her as always going out of her way to help others. She loved poetry and was very creative, writing poetry and short stories. Anna always looked forward to the annual family vacations to Wyoming. She loved when the family gathered around the campfire to roast marshmellows and share stories. She and her dog, Dakota, were always together. He was always protecting her from the evils of the world, even if that evil was nothing but an untrustworthy looking cow. Anna loved geology and was constantly picking up rocks and other treasures.Anna was diagnosed with leukemia on October 14, 2004 and lost her battle on December 22, 2004. Anna never gave up, even making plans to make jewelry from the stones she had collected over the years during recovery. Though we lost Anna her dream of a jewelry line remained and is now called Mysitque. Her mother, two sisters, aunt and cousin continue the legacy making and selling jewelry at local shows and now on ebay (under the seller name NightingaleJewelry).Starting in 2007 a proceed from all jewelry sales will go to help young people struggling with leukemia. Also in 2009 the non-profit organization Anna's Legacy will deliver Baskets of Hope to local young people fighting leukemia, hoping to bring a little joy and laughter during a very hard time. Our webstore is open, please go to www.annaslegacy.com and help a wonderful cause.
