My husband and I were separated when he died from Marfan's at the age of 34 and changed the rest of my life forever. I spent my entire adult life with him and most of what I know I learned from "us". The rest I have learned from my friends and from trial and error and lots and lots of laughing.
I love to listen to NPR and college radio and independent radio stations out of Boston.
I love skanky nightclubs where you wear big boots to keep your toes safe from stomping. I love them more when they're steamy and loud and you stick to the floor and drink beer and leave with ringing ears.
I love art.
I love looking at old trucks rotting in people's yards. I love flea markets and fair food.
I love my dogs and my very old, ornery, yet wonderful blind cat. I frequently ask Gromit the dog why I didn't get another cat instead though, dogs are weird little creatures.
I love mid century modern furniture and art and collect West Virginia Glassware Co. glasses and dishes. I love my chip and dip bowl especially, it cracks me up and comes out at every house party I throw.
I also love Lamchop, the Sharri Lewis puppet and yes I have one. My husband had a ventriloquist dummy he made look like himself, and he is in my coat closet with his head removed from his body in case he gets out and walks around one night to kill me. He won't be able to see where he's going.
My friends and I are getting old, sometimes I think so anyway. But then I get carded when I buy a bottle of wine, so maybe not.
I hate to clean house but dammit I can cook! I love food, I love to cook, I love to share meals with friends and family.
I think A Christmas Story is one of the best movies in the world and I have a Christmas Story lunchbox and the front of it is Ralphie eating the soap. It amuses me that a kid eating soap is on a lunchbox.
I love to dress up and go out, the dressier the better. I have a closet full of nice dresses and shoes, which so doesn't fit with the rest of me, but "she" the girly part of me, is there somewhere. Oh, and I love pink and my pink nano iPod.
I think Vernor's Ginger Ale is the finest soda on the face of the planet and I think Corn Dogs should be eaten regularly.
I love roller coasters and hot weather and fireworks, they all make me think of my birthday.
"Will there be another race to come along and take over for us? Maybe Martians could do better than we've done, we'll make great pets."
I'm a photographer, or as Kramer said, "I fancy myself to be a bit of a photog," hence the name.
I'm a Mac user, I have four of them. I work for an auction house, and shoot weddings on the side. I LOVE my Nikon F5 and my Fuji S2 Pro.
I also LOVE Tai Chi Chi Kung. It's just a fancy way of describing the type of Tai Chi I take. I've been doing it for a few years with my best friend, Melissa, and I do it at home daily even when I'm not enrolled in the class. The spirituality, well, it is what it is, but the relaxation, control, and strength the Tai Chi gives you makes the effort to learn the form worth it.
I don't want children of my own, but I have a very cool step daughter who just turned 14. I like that age, I remember being 14. I get it.
