About Me

First off, Im not a rapper. A lot of people that hit me up on here are like "Yo son, you be spittin your ass off, and your beats are crazy too!!" As cool as that would be, I just make beats. And produce. And engineer. And manage. Pretty much everything you can do with music except rap. I've been doing this music thing professionally for a while now, but I've been surrounded by music all my life. I was raised in a house that played everything from Sam Cook and Miles Davis to Frank Sinatra and Elvis to Classical music and Salsa (and everything in between). I played the saxaphone and french horn in middle school ( I was a soloist on the french horn, holla atcha boy lol), up until high school. Around the same time I was also introduced to D.J.'ing by a d.j. from D.C. named D.J. Ichiban. Even though I was pretty good at both the sax and french horn, I became obsessed with D.J.'ing and began to focus more on that than my middle school band. I listened to the radio everyday at 5 o'clock and 9 pm to hear the radio d.j.s do live mixshows on the radio. I grew up on D.J. Ceelo, D.J. Iran, D.J. Sixth Sense, D.J. QicSilver (The white one, no disrespect to the black one lol) and D.J. Exclusive. I would mimic their sets on my stereo and create my own mixtapes. I didnt have the bread for turntables back then so I broke my stereo so I could overdub and fade, and I also figured out how to scratch on it too. Genious level shit lol. Eventually, I got some money and grabbed some turntables and a mixer. Around age 15 I started branching out into recording, and eventually beat making. That quickly became another obsession. I made beats day and night and would skip school, parties, and other less important shit to stay up in the lab and bang out joints. Once I felt I was good enough, I hit the streets with a beat tape and sought out to find an artist to work with. I would just walk up to anybody who looked like they could spit and would just be like " Spit something, Im a producer" (My approach has changed and gotten a lil more professional since Ive gotten a lil older lol) Eventually I came across Shakklez, the HOTTEST NIGGA SPITTIN'. PERIOD.We did a few albums worth of material and a mixtape during my last few years of school and then eventually I left West V for Arizona to go to engineering school. While I was out there I realized that engineering was cool, but making beats was my thing. I made beats and engineered for a lot of west coast artists while I was there and got my productions credits up. After school I turned down two internships to start my own production company called Ontrak Productions ( Ive since changed it to Ontrak Music Group). Back then the company was a full recording studio and also specialized in production. Some past clients include Domination (formerly of G-Unit, now Silver Back Gorrillas), Chic Raw (Top Shottas), Enterprise Car Rental ( yeah, the Rent-a-Car place lol) and a number of local artists ( damn near everyone that did anything with music from my town lol). Currently, I've closed the studio to the public to focus on my own production and artists ( I know, Im a selfish bastard). For any inquiries about beats hit me up at www.soundclick.com/ontrakproductions. For any additional information about me, call my mama cuz I pretty much gave yall everything lol. Hope you enjoy my work and the works of my company and artists. One. Myspace Layouts

Influences: Who I Am:

"Im not a business man, im a BUSINESS, man!" - Jay Z. Thats the only statement i can think of to truely represent me. Im a manager of myself, my first artist, Shakklez J. Lockman, and D.J.Snipez. Im an engineer (ive mixed more shit for the street this month than you prolly will this year. And i dont even like engineering haha). Im a mixshow dj. (you can catch me on my home station, urban1radio.com every friday at 4pm est for "The Friday Takeover" and on various stations and websites worldwide). Im a producer. (im trying to have a beat for every verse lil wayne puts out this year hahaha). My main influence is my town...my city is full of hustler's that dont wanna do shit but make a career outta sellin drugs (you aint Scarface homie, and shit even that nigga got killed at the end), fake ass bitches that love u when u on top but aint there when u low, and broke rappers who just love to get recorded so they can play it for bitches (if you feel like you fit in any of these categories and that im talkin to you, i prolly am)...im influenced by those that follow their dreams and dont see shit else but the finish line...Shout out everyone who ever gave me the opportunity to work with them and shout out to everyone thats ever done real business with me...Shout out to my urban1radio family, hitzradio, dps radio, southern boi hour, and the countless other stations that show love...thanks to anyone who ever copped a mixtape, told a friend to cop a mixtape, listened to my mixshows, bought a beat, took the time to swing by the page and show love, seen me in the street and showed love, or any other form of support. Thats my true inspiration and those people are my true influences. If you dont fit into any of the above, i hope its because you havent got the chance to hear my music or meet me. Anyone else, i really dont see yall, just the finish line.

Please Dont:

1. ASK ME FOR FREE BEATS. Aint shit free in this world pimp

2. ASK ME TO SCRATCH FOR YOU. If you a self respecting dj, then learn to do what dj's do.

3. ADVERTISE ON MY PAGE. We all grindin, but dont flood my comments w/ a big ass picture of your face, or your music player.

4. ASK ME TO COLLAB. This aint a hobby, its a hustle. I charge for everything i do, and pay others for the services they provide. I do grown man business, not hood business.

5. BE A HATER - its just not a good look for you

Influences:

1. Mad Skillz- One of the hottest ghostwriter/rappers in the industry. I admire ghostwriters because they realize the bigger picture, "write the record and get a check. It doesnt matter if you perform it or not"

2. Jay Z- He took is talent as a rapper to advance him in the industry and came out on the other side a polished businessman. He took his company from indie to major.

3. Timbaland - The hottest producer/songwriter hands down.

4. Rascal Flatts - Dont feel no typa way bout this just cuz im from West Virginia, i really dont listen to country music lol...but i heard the song "May God bless the Broken Road" and hung on every word, then i was workin at a bullshit day job once and used to hear the song "What Hurts the Most" all the time and loved that joint. He's a truely talented writer and i think his music shows that it doesnt matter what genre u write in, if its hot its hot.
