Actor, musician Olivia Jane d'Abo was born in London, England on January 22nd, 1971 to singer/songwriter Michael d'Abo (lead singer for Manfred Man) and actress/model Maggie London.Olivia has worked in film and television since she was 13 and written and recorded her songs for almost as long."It's been tricky and quite a challenge for me to balance the two. Ironically, I've been given the gifts and talent of both of my parents combined. Though most people know me as an established actress who's career has spanned over 2 decades, I'm also an accomplished singer/songwriter with a "narrative edge" who has a lot to say. I believe my music truly defines who I am and is my most personal form of expression".Currently Olivia is playing the controversial Nicole Wallace (a.k.a Elizabeth Hitchens) on "Law and Order C.I". "A wonderfully written character with some pretty dark twists!" she claims. As well as the character voice of Natalia Romanof in the "Avengers" an animated feature film from Marvel Comics, due for release in the spring of 2005.Olivia has also recently completed work on her new album "Turku". A collection of 10 songs ranging from the historical to the intimate. The songs go from "Undertow" about a woman living in suburbia who won't leave the house, except to pick up her mail, to "Ne'er Do Well" about overcoming the odds of being a "loser" and being able to rejoice in a new life to "Revolution" about wanting a good cause to fight for in an otherwise dormant generation.Olivia has also been performing and doing shows in the Los Angeles area and is currently starting opposite Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane in the Broadway Revival of 'THE ODD COUPLE'.Despite her still noticeable British accent on talk show appearances, d'Abo has mastered a variety of American accents for her many TV and film roles. She first acted for the cameras when she was 13, in a TV commercial, and two years later was celebrating her 15th birthday on the set of "Conan the Destroyer" (1984), in which she had a solid co-starring role as the virginal princess. D'Abo is best known to TV audiences as Karen Arnold, the hippie older sister on "The Wonder Years" (ABC, 1988-92) who personified the restless youth of the late 1960s, wearing headbands and bell bottoms, and cutting school for "love-ins". She has since often been cast as free spirits and sexpots, but has managed to move between comedy and drama, including her send-up as a sex kitten nursemaid lusting for Kirk Douglas' bank account in "Greedy" (1994) and the poignant "The Last Good Time" (1995), in which d'Abo played the younger half of a May-December romance with Armin Mueller-Stahl. Her film career became quite active in the mid-90s when d'Abo starred opposite Dana Carvey in "Clean Slate" (1994), Steve Guttenberg in "The Big Green" and Dana Delaney and Kim Cattrall in "Live Nude Girls" (both 1995). After filming an unsuccessful sitcom pilot for ABC, she joined the cast of the NBC sitcom "The Single Guy" (1996-97) as a voice actor who has moved into the title character's apartment building.
