GET RID OF THE BUFFOONS - BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY

About Me

DELROY's musical background ranges from the "bluesy" guitar riffs he used to play as a kid in the mid-seventies, to the Disco and Funk he'd go to dance to on Sunday afternoons, through to Punk, Reggae and Soul. Rodigan, Norman and Joey Jay, Steve Barnard and Trevor Nelson (like most of the Djs from the London pirate radio stations of the '80s) are among his mentors and source of inspiration. Delroy used to paint and design during the time spent in London, from 1980 to '92, sometimes working for Ware-house parties and even performing live painting in the early days of House as a member of "A Blow to the Contra / The Three Trees", with John Hewett and Henry Iles. Today Delroy is a Dj and Producer known to most of those who have an interest in Drum and Bass in Italy. After going back to Italy he gets involved in what soon becomes Guidance Kru and begins as a selector and speaker on the "Guidance in the Jungle" radio programs. As an organizer he defines the list of the Djs from the UK who grace the decks at the "Guidance @ 21st Century" events, in Milan's Pergola, a small club renowned for the fat sound system (loved by Fabio and Jumping Jack Frost, to name a couple) and its unique vibe. As a Dj he is resident at the "Musique Deluxe" nights with Dj Em, always for Guidance Kru. At that time he starts Dj-ing for Royalize, the people responsible for the Shee-Been label, and playing some dates around the Country, as well as having a residency at the "Casa 139" club (Royality Lounge), the first "proper" long-running D'n'B club night in Milan. Always in Pergola he hosts the successful "Hi-Jak" nights, with Dj Kame and other local Djs. He then starts a Sunday club in Milan called "Heaven Ice Sunday" trying to merge Writing and Street Art with the sound of Drum and Bass and getting involved with Visual Artists such as Lark, from the "Zona 13" crew and GG T (Box crew). In the meantime Delroy starts to work for "Jack the Sound". The events take place mostly at the Leoncavallo centre.Towards the end of the 2003-04 season, "Jack the Sound" moves to the Pergola "Bass-ment". He also keeps busy with "Funked!", a night dedicated mostly to the mellower and deeper side of the music, organized by Lark at the "Blu-Bar" (R.I.P.), just outside Milan. He even helped GG T with the music for his "Globa" installation, presented at Genoa's Contemporary Art Museum in 2004.
