Cry of distress

MySpace LayoutsCry of Distress was founded by Tommi (guitar) and Paavo (drums) about a decade ago. The oldest material still played by the band dates to that time. Their material made an impression on Harri, who soon joined the band and made himself their bass. Tuula (vocals) was found totally by coinsidence, when Paavo tried to pick up a pretty blonde at a bar. The bands assembly underwent some changes during the next few years, until Jussi (guitar) completed the current cast at 2003.The bands sound has been altered by each member and the passing time. During the years songs have either been improved or withered and died. New material is made at a steady pace. The work of the two composers is given it's final form by the band. Each member makes sure there is contiunuous progress made with each instrument. Creative work has no end.All the bands members have been involved with music all their lives. Backgrounds vary from classical to rock. The bands sound today is melodic, rock influenced heavy metal. Cry of Distress combines strong melodies to more aggressive elements and grinding riffs. At its simpliest this can be heard in the vocals as they switch between singing and growling. During the years Cry of Distress has made several demo recordings mostly with their own equipment, which has been possible due to their trusted mixer Janne. Their first album is on its way. The band's biggest motivation however are the live performances. They have worked together for years and their plan is simple: Moving up and aiming high.
