thelast_ones

The band formed in the summer of 2004 in a small city in South Brazil called Criciuma. The idea came to be within a few classes where Gabriel was studying English with Christian at Yes Brazil. During summertime in Criciuma most people migrate to the adjacent beach community of Rincao while the city turns into a ghost town. Only someone like Gabriel with his relentless thirst for knowledge would be taking English classes far from the beach in the middle of summer. Christian would probably have preferred to be at the beach surfing and smoking weed, but luckily he scored a good gig teaching English and most importantly, he met Gabriel. It didn’t take but a few classes for the two to discover that they loved some fundamentally similar music ( Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Hardcore) and that Gabriel played guitar and Christian drums. As well Gabriel had a handful of best friends who all played guitar and one who had done some singing before. Loose talk became ideas at various bars in the neighborhood where Gabriel, Christian, and Eduardo would meet and discuss exactly what they would do as soon as Carnival was over and the city came back to life. At Alcaeda studios (thelast_ones sanctuary) ideas became songs and two of them were recorded in June of 2004 for thelast_ones first demo. These were burned off as the band went along and for every CD spit out of the burner Eduardo hand drew and hand glued the CD sleeve. About 150 to 200 of these were given out for free. This was the beginning of the bands D.I.Y. as FUCK commitment to everything they did. Alcaeda is where the band really shined and felt at home getting shitfaced and rocking among an active community of young musicians. In June of 2005 thelast_ones began recording their debut EP "Bringing Back Paranoia" at Solana Studios in Criciuma with Mauricio Boff. This would be the band’s most time consuming and un-natural experience in recording, nonetheless the EP stands as thelast_ones strongest achievement. thelast_show happened at an all day party at Solana Studios where the band was scheduled to play last . By showtime thelast_ones were so drunk they didn’t even realize half their equipment didn’t work and that everything sounded like shit. And it sounded like SHIT. All they could do was laugh it off .
