Mike Edel

About Me

In the music of Mike Edel, listeners are gently brought into contact with what it means to be a human being. Born in rural Canada with a constantly reflective mind, adventurous spirit, and compassionate heart, his honest lyrics poignantly and humanly wrestle with such universal themes as lost love, fear, home, family, travel, nature, and the divine. Years of studying jazz guitar have afforded his sound a full and mature quality that instantly calms with its fluidity and inspires with its creativity. The influences on his music include, but are not limited to, the fields of Canada (which he poetically calls “this yellow sea” in the song “Stranded”); the music of Ryan Adams, Counting Crows, John Mayer, and Leslie Feist; and his many travels by backpack to such places as Germany, Ireland, the Middle East, and the sunny beaches of California. In all, Mike Edel is an artist and a musician and a fellow human being with not only something to say, but a beautiful medium through which to way to say it, and say it well.
