A master is he, this mandolin-toting woodsman honed his musical skills in Seward, Alaska. Bernard Glansbeek takes this typically unsung instrument and truly makes it sing. His singular style incorporates both playful and somber elements of bluegrass,folk and new acoustic. As well as being a gifted musician Bernard is also a noted musical instructor. He has taught a whole new generation of young Alaskans the musical arts including most of the award winning members of Alaska's own Bearfoot Bluegrass. He currently has one bluegrass album out, "Rank Strangers - On The River", which has garnered high praise in the Alaskan Bluegrass scene.......................................................
..................... Bernard is also a noted Bassist. Being a member of the house blues band at "Mr. Whitekey's Fly By Night Club" in the 1980's. The band, Southside Blues hosted the monday night blues jams where the local greats would come to stretch their musical muscle. Joined by band leader Gary Sloan on harmonica, the great Lindy Raines on sizzling guitar and drummer extrordinare Michael McDonald, Bernard recorded every note played and has released the first in a series titled: "Southside Blues - Blue Mondays". In the early nineties Bernard was a member of the house band in San Francisco's legendary Filmore and Geary blues club "Jack's" having played with most of his blues musical influences, from Little Johnny Taylor to Wolfman Jack to John Lee Hooker and scores of blues greats in between.
