Tiffany Shepis. She actually embraces her status as a Scream Princess, unlike some other actresses that look down their noses at horror film roles.
I was lucky enough to meet one of my heroes when David F. Friedman retired from the film business and moved back to his hometown of Anniston. Mr. Friedman, along with his partner Herschell Gordon Lewis, was responsible for pioneering the splatter horror film. Blood Feast (1963), Two Thousand Maniacs (1964), and Color Me Blood Red (1965) not only pushed the envelope, they tore it to pieces. By himself, Dave Friedman produced several cult favorites, including She-Freak (1967) and Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS (1975). As luck would have it, Mr. Friedman went to high school with my grandfather.
After introductions were made, the filmmaker and I began a friendship that has lasted 18 years. Far from clinical "retirement", Dave has kept his thumb on the pulse of Hollywood and has been recently been executive producer on both Blood Feast 2 (2002) and 2001 Maniacs (2005)with Robert Englund (of Freddy Krueger fame), both sequels to his previous classics.
