About Me

formed 1995 Rautavaara took their name from a Phillip K. Dick short story. They released a vinyl dlp named "zombie nitemare in downtown jerusalem " in 1998 followed by the CD "andromeda" on american label Cohort Records 2 years later. Rautavaara also released various tapes and cd-rs over the years , for example:
" the mysterious sounds of rautavaara",
"haldolica jazz-hell",
"passionate drinkers ",
"arranged derangements",
"the terrible feeling of deja vu"
"the music of chance",
"splinters"
and the highly mysterious "Ikea-Trilogy " ,
even members of the band are unsure if that one has ever seen the light of day........................
here is a four-step guide to rautavaara:
1. As we are from a strong post-punk upbringing we prefer to "let the music do the talking". Therefore communication between songs is kept to a minimum. Offstage we´re the most likeable bunch of people you could wish for, of course
2. We are musicians , not acrobats. Therefore motion on stage is kept to a minimum as handling the instruments requires our full concentration. We encourage dancing of course.
3. Rautavaara believe in DIY . Unfortunately ,careerwise we like to let things happen. They never do.
4. Any cynicism or irony witnessed is purely coincidal
