About Me

Blessed with the power of youth, thug-like charm, noticeable good looks, and an uncanny flow that will undoubtedly be embraced by the streets, Reginald Washington IV, pka, Shortee (RED) is highly-expected to carry the torch lit by many of the East Coast’s most famous hip-hop artists.A resident of Bed Stuyvesant, New York, and a former member of the Michael Bivins’ produced group, Magnificent 7 (Universal Motown), Shortee (RED) is only 18 years-old and recent graduate from high school. He is a product of bi-racial parents (his father is black, his mom is white), and was primarily raised by his dad.Shortee (RED) doesn’t claim any apparent influences when asked to list artists and individuals that he patterns himself. Rather he chooses to cite his personal camp for guidance and inspiration. For it is with them that he collaborates, records, and creates much of the music that has already generated some buzz.Already a favorite on MySpace.com, Shortee (RED) is receiving a great deal of exposure with a number of potentially hit songs. The soon-to-be street anthem “We Won’t Stop” is a song that he is really proud of , while “Leave That Boy Alone,” featuring the very sexy Mya (Universal Motown), is gathering a great deal of listener response. When describing his musical style, Shortee (RED) is quick to admit his knack for diversity. And producing songs that sound like everything else is not his objective. “I’m all over the place, when it comes to my music,” he states. “I see a lot of copycats out there. A lot of dudes are just playing follow the leader. But I’m trying to go my own way. One song you can see me being laid back for the females; another song I may be creating entirely for the streets; on another one I may be talking about the struggle and telling my people to keep their heads up. I try to give everybody what they want. I don’t—I can’t—stick in one place.” But Shortee (RED) also expects to give listeners some heat as well. Much of that heat is coming from the South, and even though Shortee (RED) is a loyal New Yorker, he has plans to hook up with some of the hottest producers from the North, South, East and West to make contributions to his forthcoming project.Shortee (RED)’s journey has taken him where most people his age and older have only dreamed to go. In addition to his burgeoning hip-hop career, he has appeared in a number of movies, such as “He Got Game,” “Hurricane,” “Killing Zone,” “The Best Thief in the World,” and “Little Fugitive.” He is also opened for numerous recording artists including Eminem, DMX, Kelly Price, Destiny’s Child and The Fugees.Shortee (RED), who is signed to GMUSIC Management | Worldwide is steadily entertaining a series of offers from various music labels, in hopes of securing a major deal sometime in ‘07. Armed with a serious work ethic, the artist is doing all that is really necessary in order to have a successful career.“I’ve done a lot, and it’s been kind of hard to keep up with it all,” says Shortee (RED) “I’m doing my own thing and I’m not trying to slow down. I’m not looking for much either. I want to be successful, and I wanna look out for my family. I hope to have a lot of hit records and to give back to my community. Everyday I see a lot of dudes hangin’ out on my corner where I live, asking me what am I doing? And I gotta let them know where I’m headed, so that I can come back and hopefully give back to them.“All I say is keep looking out for me, ‘cause I’m comin’ strong!!!”..
