Ryan Smith, a native of the suburbs of Detroit developed an interest in oiled men who roll on the ground with each other in tights and parlayed that interest into a radio program. He served as the website manager and talent agent for former WWE superstar the Honky Tonk Man. Ryan has a turtle named Dr. Venkman. His favorite movie is Almost Famous, and his favorite television shows are Scrubs and Seinfeld. Ryan currently attends Columbia College Chicago working towards a Masters in Arts, Entertainment and Media Management. Ryan is certifiably awesome.
Justin Kamps chooses not to write a bio, because he is a communist.
What was it?/Who were they?
Talk That Rocks has it's roots dating back nearly 10 years. In the summer of 1999, current Talk That Rocks host Ryan Smith began a wrestling talk "real audio" show called The Ryan Smith Show. This type of program could be easily compared to that of pod-casting today. Smith's Internet program eventually moved to AM radio and later merged with Inside the Ring hosted by Q-Ball, another wrestling radio program. The program was joined by a third, local professional wrestler, Mojo. The shows format began to change to more of a "Rock and Wrestling variety show, with the hosts covering all kinds of topics. In the summer of 2001, the radio show, now dubbed "The Ringside Edge" moved from AM radio to live Internet broadcasting. The Ringside Edge officially went off the air July 30th, 2002, only to return on a few occasions for reunions.
However, in the summer of 2005, Ryan Smith and Mojo began hosting an Internet radio show with a mix of music and talk called "The Show w/ Ryan and Mojo." The program aired 7 episodes during the summer. The program was relaunched in October 2005 as Ryan Smith was joined by Kevin Howell and "Prime Time" Johnny Rickson and the show titled was altered slightly to become "The Show - Talk That Rocks Kalamazoo!" The show aired for a little over a year, airing it's last episode in late October 2006.
In January 2008, Ryan Smith returned to the Internet air waves with "Talk That Rocks," a two hour mix of rock and talk. In May 2008, Justin Kamps joined the program. Talk That Rocks continues to have an open door policy, welcoming a variety of guests and co-hosts.
