About Me

And introducing......from across the bay ya'll... I started playing drumkits and percussion when I was fourteen and grew up to radio shows in my parents home as a very young lad, often jumping around to Cream and Queen and getting hooked on The Police at a later stage. Trancebeats from the Global Underground and Renaissance followed. I realised that music was more than just listening to it - I wanted to play it...then came the drumkit Ma & Pa bought...I remember now...it was yellow...and shiny.Squashed nicely between playing Jazz Rock ensembles in High School and causing structural damage in the garage where my kit was set up, in the incessant rumble of drum and unadulterated youthful exuberance I found himself meandering into a rock netherworld where playing crazy house parties and dirty clubs opened the world of Rock 'n Roll. The live performances in Cape Town ebbed through many crazy funk and rock genres but musical buds like Mark Austin, Lance Watson, Driff Sutton, James Marshall, Robin Harris, Stuart Scott, Greg Seller and Lee Radmall made the ride in Cape Town's most humid spaces the funnest. After bands like Clamjamfrey, Spank Thru, PBD and Vitamin X, I took on a new and very fresh perspective to South Africa and the musical climate and joined up with frontman Warren Snaith and the band Soulja. A whirlwind of 3-years saw us support bands like Sepultura and headline South Africa's big festivals like Splashy Fen. I had finally arrived on Rock 'n Roll and tour/poor living. Call it fate or an ill mate but, sadly, I left Soulja to follow other future things and here I am now - a drummer in London playing with the way cool band t r a n s k e i in and around Camden and West London...through to the semis of the Emergenza Band Competition this year and still hoping to form that Police cover band that has been threatening my conscience for ten years already...'Stuart has a fond interest in the percussion instruments...' - pre-school report card 1982.Shark Lunch
