I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I run a booking agency/PR fim called 43Rocket Sonic Alignment. I named the company after my late father, who died eight years ago from pancreatic cancer. It was his love for music (specifically doo-wop, '50s, old-time rock & roll) that inspired mine. Born in November 1943, my dad was an avid record collector, with thousands of 45s (many bearing his nickname "Rocket" so he and his buddies could differentiate whose was whose when they'd get together to drink beers and spin records) and an encyclopedic knowledge of music from his era and a lightning-quick recall on every possible detail about the song (year released, artist - you name it).I publish Copper Press. It's a print magazine. Royce Deans and I started it in 1999, after a six year run co-publishing Pok Magazine. You can visit us online at www.copperpress.com where we've also started publishing online-only, monthly CP Supplemental issues for your enjoyment.Royce and I also run 54º40' or Fight!. It's a label. Artists for which we've released records include The Interiors, Ticonderoga, Schooner, Champion Kickboxer, Alina Simone, Carol Bui, The Conformists, Abilene, The Building Press, Pseudosix, 31knots, The Life and Times, The Double, Dilute, The Planet The, and others. Losing money has never sounded so good. www.fiftyfourfortyorfight.comMy wife and I have five - count 'em, five - pets. Two puppies and three cats (we recently found new homes for two of the kitties). But we're not shut-ins or crazy. Well, we're not shut-ins, at any rate. We have a baby on the way. Her name is Ella and she's due in January. We're both very excited, and, from all the kicking and squirming around, so is Ella. Personally, I love to play poker. I lift weights five or six days a week. Chances are I eat more oatmeal and egg whites in a day than you do in a month. I'm a competitive NPC bodybuilder and recreational powerlifter. In the winter, I snowshoe, snowboard, XC ski and just generally enjoy the cold. In the summer, well, I deal with the heat. I'm a huge White Sox fan, but I'm not in any fantasy dork leagues (not that there's anything wrong with that... besides the omnipresent threat of rickets and lack of dates.). I believe in small, limited government; in low taxes for all, the better to grow our economy and increase the general welfare; in the government staying out of peoples' business, their wallets and their businesses' wallets. I believe fanatical Islamic terrorism is a real threat to liberty and to Western civilization and that there are some people out there - many, many people - that had better awaken to this reality. We're impaling ourselves on shark stakes over the distant and uncertain threat of icebergs floating ashore in California (Seas rising 20 feet, Gore? Try 20 inches, at best.), meanwhile people ignore the icebergs of civil unrest in Europe, in Africa, in the Middle East, and in many mosques in the US for fear of what lies beneath them. Oh, and speaking of all things cold and laden with heaviness, did I mention I like ice cream? I do. Love it. Especially Haagen-Daaz coffee flavor and Breyer's chocolate/vanilla/strawberry. Yummy.<->

Reconnecting with music

Sad that during my seven years of booking bands, publishing a magazine and running a label since quitting my job with Kraft Foods, I had listened to less and less music on a daily basis. Well, someth...

255.5

So, with two weeks to go, my bodyweight is down to 255. It's wild to see the day by day changes as I get leaner and leaner. Skin is getting thinner, which is giving me a grainy, veiny look, especial...
