Ladies and Gentlemen....the consistently
Dynamic and outlandishly outlandish......Dull Fudds.
Heralding from the Scottish Borders, The Dull Fudds have played together for 3 years and consist of 4 slightly mad yet loveable musicians;
Katie leads the charge on guitar and vocals, with a ska groove and folk and soulful feel, adding in a skillful pop music songwriting sensibility which hooks in the most unlikely of listeners.
Anna, distinguished (damn) fine artist in her own right, pumps up the volume on Bass guitar, her influences from electronic music making dance-worthy feel good grooves. Anna is also the Fiddler for the Fudds, adding a gypsy-polka feel to the ska-ish proceedings.
Jenny(Foo) on Flute and backing vocals brings a jazzy vibe to things but a background in classical and folk music makes for a typically fudd-ish variety performance which makes the Fudds' sound trillingly unique
Finally, Drumming prodigy James 'limpet' Knowles slays the almighty dragon that is the beat on drums and percussion. A background in metal results in a love of rumbling up the fastest and trickiest of beats, leaving audiences wondering "how?". This is defied by a more subtle and varied approach which includes reggae and jazz-tasting stylings.
This clued up quadruplet have been friends for many years, through various bands and musical associations, into the resulting gigs and festivals, and not much has changed. They perform in just that spirit with gusto and laughter…With a groove to the left and a rumba to the right the Dull Fudds are a boiling pot of genres, a cross between nothing you’ve ever heard and something you'll definitely want to hear.
The Fudds have had amazing responses since playing a number of Festivals last year, Small World, Green Festival, Sound Festival, Yellows on the Broom and much more. Returning to higher and headline slots for 2010, the band have received good airtime on local radio and are looking to bigger things. Having just released their debut album with Brigside Music Publishing the future looks bright for the Fudds.
“I don’t think the Dull Fudds have ever left a gig without someone dancing, they are refreshingly energetic and innocently enthusiastic. They have something different and the truth is you have to see them play to capture it.â€
"The Dull Fudds: Melodic, High Energy, Crackers... but not dull!" (Yellow's On the Broom Festival)
