Welcome to the official Craig Barnett MySpace page. Craig “Barney†Barnett, never expected to be labelled an international male model growing up. His focus was always on sport and doing well at it. At the age of thirteen he equalled the Australian age record for 80m hurdles in track and field and from ages 14 to 16 he was one of only a few Western Australian's to have picked up a sponsorship for skateboarding at that time. At 16 he changed his focus to competitive swimming, where he spent over thirteen years racing at a national level, and competed at three Australian Olympic Swimming Trials. Modelling was not something he had considered previously, but at the 2004 Australian Olympic Swimming Trials, Barney was approached by a rising Australian swimwear company, Wayfunky Company, to be the face of their label, Funky Trunks. What started out as fun, has taken him to the world stage in male modelling. In July 2004, Barney was named WA’s Mr Bachelor. In 2006, he was invited to compete in the search for the Australian male model of the year, in a competition called Manhunt. He progressed through the early stages to the 2006 Manhunt Australian Male Model of the Year Final, where he outclassed all other finallists to take first place and was crowned Mr Australia. This earnt him the opportunity to represent Australia in the 2007 Manhunt International World Final, in South Korea. There, he was up against 52 other contestants from as many nations and was selected as a top 5 award winner, finishing 3rd Runner Up. In 2008 Barney was included as one of CLEO's 50 most eligible bachelors. He has since been offered modelling contracts overseas and has had the pleasure of working with some of the world's renowned fashion designers such as Korea's, Andre Kim. In the last year Barney has travelled all over Australia. He has been invited to judge national modelling competitions for both males and females and met some amazing people along the way.
