CHIP TAYLOR about his concert at N9 (3/12/06) in his road book:
DEC 3 – heading for EEKLO, BELGIUM
It’s Sunday afternoon . John’s driving – damp & drizzly. We arrive at the venue (N9) at about 3:30.. where we meet the terrific couple that promoted this gig on behalf of a no-profit/ government sponsored organization.. Jan & Bernadette.. what a great place ..
THE VENUE - N9 – is a modern, fresh looking MERCURY LOUNGE type place.. with a great sound system.. we’ll have 5 excellent monitors tonight – a real luxury!!
Upstairs is a spacious three room set up.. with a dining area & 2 rooms for the band to relax & get ready.
SOUND CHECK – Patrick & Carl are the engineers – they arrive at 5:00 to set up the Mike’s etc… we start checking a bit after 6:00 & are done by 6:30.
DINNER – Host Jan & I decide we’re good at making hot water for tea.. but Burnadette is good at all the rest – FOR EXAMPLE .. THIS AMAZING HOME COOKED MEAL…. Featuring a warm bowl of chicken & vegetable & rice & something else that tastes to me like turkey stuffing .. but way better.. THANKS BERNADETTE!!!
THE SHOW Carrie has a bit of problems with her fiddle on the first song.. but it’s smooth sailing from there…This is a fan based audience … both my 70’s stuff & the duets.. a great audience to play for!!
Lots of highlights for me.. the new stuff.. “…Jesus†..’Hallelujah Boysâ€â€¦â€Never Gonna Be Your Bride:â€, â€Thursday Night LV Airportâ€.. “Bippity Boo†(a big fan favorite tonight).. but aside from BIG RIVER.. & ANEL Of The Morning: & WILD THING.. Carrie’s new one’s “50’s French Movie†& “Big Kiss†were super highlights for me … as well as a requested, “STORYBOOK CHILDREN†& “Same Old Storyâ€â€¦ ended this great night with a rockin version of “All The Rainâ€
Thanks to all who attended this terrific last night of the tour --- what a wonderful; venue this is!!! Again thanks to Patrick & Carl for the great sound… president of the association .. Jan-France … great talking with you later … thanks for the TRUTH about Santa Claus.. a 16th century Bishop from Smyrna, Turkey.. a dark skinned fellow who took care of orphans & brought them little gifts.
Thanks top Lieva.. our bartender friend… Hi to Jan-france’s mom Maria Christiana??… AND A BIG HI TO STEIN (a volunteer) …
Again, thanks JAN & BERNADETTE.. Carrie, me & the boys appreciate the kindness, good food, & great friends. SEE YOU SOON!!

JOHN from NIZLOPI (3/11/06) on his blog:
The venue we played was called N9 and has had so many great acts playing there, I have to say the sound was the best I've had on the double bass for a long time. Its a venue made out of the love of music and not really about making a profit.
