About Me

Formed in 1996, Static Rituals have encountered many line-up changes. Based in the SE Michigan/NW Ohio area, they have had all-star local line-ups including the likes of Ben "Swank" Smith of (Estrus Rec. Artists) Soledad Brothers, Dan Greunke of Glide and Vandolah, Mayuko Hyachi of Detroit's Cyril Lords, Tommy No-Tone of Gone Daddy Finch, Noel Keesee of Weeds from A Perfect Garden/The Jane fame, and other Toledo, Ohio favorites. The band started as a three-peice getting off the school bus together writing post-punk gems, and went through stages of moog-influenced 80's throw-back punk a la early Devo through five-peice noise-fest gems. With a slew of recordings under their belt, primarily the LP-only compilation "Purr Like A Kitten" from 1997 and 2001's "Trading Sirens" on Style Over Substance, they have disassembled and reconfigured for 2004's "All Action, All Gone", and primarily perform per request in the midwest for fun. Currently, the band is a solid three-piece again with a full-length scheduled for a late 2009 release tentatively titled "The Steadfast Passion Vacuum" with former members, friends and local staples contributing in the production. A tour will follow, their first true tour in over ten years as a whole project.

Sounds Like: A man is walking down the street and accidently falls into a deep hole. A doctor walks by and the man yells up to him "Doc, I'm down here, can you help me out!?". The doctor writes him a prescription, drops it down the hole and walks on. A priest walks by the hole, and the man yells up to him, "Father, I'm down here, can you help me?". The priest says a prayer for the man and walks on. A friend walks by and the man yells up to him, "I'm down here, can you help me?" and his friend jumps down into the hole with him. The man says, "you idiot, now we're BOTH down here!". His friend says "yeah, but I've been down here before, and I know the way out". We are that friend.
