Ima'gin is a Finnish musician-producer born in 1980. An eccentric and insightful man with deep roots into classical music, he began his creative journey with piano lessons at early age. Later on he also learned to play the guitar. Once a consummated and passionate pianist, his first compositions were sheet music pieces for the piano. He studied under the guidance of late professor Tarmo Huovinen – a greatly talented pianist and a gentleman, whom he owes lifelong gratitude. Ima'gin’s favourite works in his pianist times were those of abstract Bach, romantic Chopin, brilliant Liszt, and moody Rachmaninov.
In his early twenties, a close friend and DJ, Jace, introduced Ima'gin to electronic music and he developed a liking to its repetitive patterns and hypnotic beat. He began experimenting with producing some electronic music tunes but was conscripted into the Finnish military in 2000 which interrupted all his projects and endeavors for a long time. A rather somber period of misfortune followed when he broke his hand in an accident and had to give up any dreams of playing the piano at the highest level. A spiritual awakening compelled him to read vast amounts of literature to quench his thirst for answers on eternal questions. Ima'gin grew dissatisfied with his economics studies and felt he had to find new direction for his life and began studying medicine. However, the creative outlet was still missing in his life.
By the end of year 2006, Ima'gin was increasingly listening to progressive trance and house music, and decided that he would begin composing electronic instead of classical piano music. For this he had an excellent basis as a musician so the shift was more of a technicality, and he acquired modern equipment to make the dream real.
The classical background can well be heard in Ima'gin’s music – it's an intriguing blend of epic melodies, layered harmonies, and counter-point style string arrangements. It makes pioneering use of new styles and ethnic influences, rhythms, and instruments not typically used in trance music. Ima'gin’s sound is mainly club progressive – dark and mystical trance combined with the techy club percussions of the future. He forms the experimental collaboration duo “Synthika” together with his brother Tempo Giusto. Ima'gin is also a gifted remixer with a distinct style, following the centuries old classical tradition of theme variations.
Since 2008, Ima'gin owns and runs his own label Echelon Records together with Tempo Giusto. Echelon is a growing digital label which distributes to all major dance music stores and releases top quality club music in trance and progressive.
