IT IS NOT A THING TO BE WAITED FOR, IT IS TO BE ACHIEVED. ...."Charlotte Serrano was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on July 10, 1979, and migrated to the United States in 1996. Making Philadelphia, PA, “Philly”, her new home , she began her dance training at “La Puerto Rico School of Dance”. While still in high school, she was invited to be part of the ballet company “Ballet Teatro De Puerto Rico Inc.” under the guidance of Honey Defillo and Stephanie Taylor. There she worked with great choreographers such as Jose Saracen, Roberto Rodriguez, Rose Marie Price, Luba Gulyaeva, Edwin Ballester, just to name a few. She was awarded a scholarship to The Performing Art Center in Ponce, Puerto Rico where she worked under the direction of July Mayoral. Charlotte performed at the most prestigious Performing Art Center in the island, “Teatro la Perla , Teatro Yaguez and El Centro De Bellas Artes de San Juan” as a dancer and actress in theater plays such as “Ceiba, Reina de Las Nieves, Lorca Vida, Pasión y Muerte, Maria” and many other theatrical stories. She also trained Latin Dance styles including: Salsa, Merengue, Plena, Bomba, Danza, Seis Choreao, Cha-cha-cha, and Rumba Flamenco with a professional folklore dancer and instructor Ana Ramos in Philadelphia under the direction of Raices Culturales Latinoamericanas Inc. Although professionally trained for many years in various forms of dance, including modern, lyrical, Jazz and ballet, it was not until 2000, at the age of 21, that she emerged onto the salsa scene. She has been performing, competing and choreographing dances ever since. Charlotte competed and placed 1st at the International Latin Sea Port Dance Competition in New York in July of 2003. She was awarded 2nd Place at The Philadelphia Salsa Open the following year. At The Puerto Rico World Salsa Open in July 2005, Charlotte placed 7th. Her dancing was viewed by many on the Spanish show, “Sabado Gigante” when she entered and won 3rd place in the competition "A Bailar A Bailar" in March 2006. In June of 2006, Charlotte competed in The Philadelphia World Championship Preliminaries, Cabaret Division winning 2nd place. Subsequently, in 2007 she participated in the same category winning first place. Yet again, in 2007 Charlotte was invited by “Sabado Gigante” to compete as a Solo Female Dancer and had the pleasure of performing with Raphy Flores professional choreographer, dancer and reggaeton artist. Her style, charm and grace won the crowd and judges awarding her first place. In the same year, she entered the NJ Puerto Rican Association Dance Competition in Trenton also earning number one. & her last accomplishment; top 10 at The 2007 World Salsa Championship been the only couple representing USA in the Cabaret Division!!!!! Another accomplishment and most important in her life was giving birth to her one and only son named Reinier Abdiel who was born February 14, 2003. The birth of Reinier only inspired her to achieve more for her new family; All that while, she never neglected to continue her college studies, completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts at La Salle University and many years of diverse experience including outstanding accomplishment in Social Services as a Social Worker and Drug and Alcohol Counselor. She has a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation. She is success oriented, competitive with high energy, adaptable, quick learner consultative and problem solver. Currently training as a Salsa dancer, incorporating elements of dance such as style, technique and precision to expand her career as a dancer, determined to become the best dancers that she can be. But also fulfilling her dream currently working at a TV station “Univision – Philadelphia WUVP 65” as a Spoken/model / Host and Talent Air. But also training with hopes to be part of a Spanish soap opera, or why not some day make it to the BIG screen (HOLLYWOOD)
