About Me

Mike is a pianist/composer based in North Alabama who has recently released his second solo project entitled “Rest”. This project follows up his initial offering, “Communion”, a collection of improvisations on well known traditional hymn melodies. “Rest” has been described by Mike as a “life soundtrack” as much of the music on this record was inspired and actually composed as an out flowing of his life experiences. The project contains 3 lullabies composed for his 3 daughters as well as 2 original compositions with guest vocalists Dave Dubberly and Sharla Mari. In addition to this there are several other original songs and a few improvisations on well known hymn melodies. Mike states, “I try to write melodies that accent the emotion of life. My hope is that people will hear these songs and identify with the feelings I’m expressing through them – that they will say to folks in some way ‘I know what you’re going through and have been there too’.”Mike also continues to pursue several other musical interests as well. He recently has begun work with Ivory Coast, a contemporary jazz band. Check out their new demos at www.myspace.com/ivorycoastjazz. Mike also continues to play regularly with the Starvin' Pilgrims, a north Alabama based cover band he and a group of friends started years ago. Also, he remains busy in his studio, Mockingbird Lane Studio. Mike is currently working with budding singer/songwriters Jacob Jetton and Jason Wilkins. His goal in the studio is and always has been to create a professional finished product at a very affordable price point enabling singer/songwriters voices to be heard. Mike can be contacted here on myspace or at [email protected] if you are interested in recording with Mike. Stay tuned for more updates as well as a studio web page which is currently under construction....
