About Me

Corey Jenny was born in southwest Wisconsin in the July of 1978. He started playing guitar when he was 7 and started his first band when he was 12. Started by playing in run down joints, strip clubs, & throwing parties at underage clubs from the age of 13 to 18. Graduated from the Madison Media Institute for recording & music technology at 19. At 20 he returned to school and studied for 2 years under Bud Wall @ the University of Platteville Wisconsin as a fine arts major. After leaving the school he started an acoustic duet with good friend Richard "Rhyce" Geasland entitled "Corey N Rhyce" who joined up with the Acoustic Authorities tour where he met Bryan Popp. Bryan & Corey put out an album and toured the area until that band broke up. Corey then started playing acoustically drawing on his country roots to entertain drunks of all ages. Unusually unique for a country singer Corey has been a practicing witch for 18 years (real witchcraft *sorry Harry Potter fans* though he does have a death eater tattoo on his left forearm) and is extensively read on the subjects of religion and folk lore. He played in a modern style original country group called the River Divide, which in 2006 made their way all the way to the regionals of the Colgate Country Showdown.Zero Passes Through was a Madison based acoustic trio with Micheal Schave and Richard Geasland that Corey was a part of for 3 or 4 years until it went defunct at the end of '07... he's currently focusing on tracking songs he's been writing, as well as staying busy with solo gigs and making time for his side project: The Last Of The Old School with his good friend "Natural Selector" Sam Kleefisch of Driver13 fame.He now fronts a band called: "Corey Jenny & Mojo Busted" featuring long time friends Mike Steckling & Art Ranney, with lead guitar/mandolinist John Coleman and plans to keep recording solo & with the band so if anyone is interested in a cd just let us know it probably won't be officially released until '09, if ever...but if you want it leave us a message and write "Lay Your Burden Down" on the subject line and we'll either send you the files or we can arrange to send you an actual disc. This is a song I wrote about crooked cops seen here as performed by Zero Passes Through the song is called: Draw Me Down

I've also been the opening act for such groups as Hootie & the Blowfish, David Allen Coe, Sugarland, Trick Pony, Miranda Lambert, Cross Canadian Ragweed...and more.
Sounds Like: Honestly it's just good old-timey wisconsin alt country originals...but when I play covers they end up sounding like Johnny Cash or Merle Haggard covering songs. I'm the premiere gangster, honkeytonk/outlaw country singer in the tri-state area (wisconsin/iowa/illinois). It's Americana, crossed with Sun Records, crossed with indie country...lotsa delay with a rythmatic Honky Tonk style, good lyrics & vocals and just enough twang.
Record Label: All songs written & recorded by Corey Jenny
Type of Label: Indie
