In love with music ever since the tender age of 5, Funk.K was always intrigued by instrumental melodies composed for movies and TV shows. His early influences include Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and WHAM which had led to him helping himself to his sisters’ music collection, sneaking in their rooms when they’re away just to enjoy music.Little wonder that just over a decade later, his musical exposure had grown for his interest in music had himself form a Grunge/Alternative band. The underground scene was his playground and non mainstream Seattle artists such as Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden were his idols.During these teenage years, he would also move parties with a selection of self-compiled tracks for friends and was also the appointed DJ at house parties, armed with a pair of cassette decks and CD players to entertain. With dreams of being the man behind the decks in clubs one day, Funk.K started hanging around DJs to learn the ropes. His big break came shortly after setting off on a DJ-ing career as he gained respectable accolades in local DJ competitions, emerging 2nd runner-up at the 2004 Vestax Extravaganza and finalist in the 2004 Pioneer Digital ProDJ events. Funk.K also started 2006 with a bang by headlining the Celcom 3G New Year Street Party in Gurney Drive, Penang.Drawing inspiration from a wide variety of DJs and producers such as DJ Chus, Dnox & Beckers, Sandy Rivera, Chris Lake, Mark Knight, Eddie Amador and Carl Cox, Funk.K's music is versatile and never easily categorized. Depending on the occassion, his unique blend of music can range from deep and sexy for light and easy listening to a crazy mix of percussions, tribal drums and driving basslines to satisfy even the hardest clubheads on the dancefloor.
