I would like to meet Jesus face to face when he says well done my good and faithful servant you have been faithful over a few things now I'll make you a ruler over many. I will stand before him and get my crown.Afterwards, I would like to meet you God's chosen people.Dear Sir or Madam,Have you ever had a burden on your heart? Have your friends or family ever experienced not having a place to stay? Has anyone you know ever been addicted to drugs or alcohol? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then continue to read and help us achieve our goal. I want to make a difference. I personally, know several people who have been affected by homelessness, drugs, Aids or uncontrollable children. These are the people who hold a special place in my heart. My husband and I have taken some of these people into our home over the past years and we realized that there were more who needed help and we couldn’t provide it for them. Through prayer the LORD has instructed me to open a rescue mission in the state of New York. The name of this mission is God’s Outstretched Hands.God’s Outstretched Hands will be a Christian non-profit organization ministering to the needs of the less fortunate in NY through emergency and long term rehabilitation services. We will provide food, clothes and shelter for men, women and children who are homeless or destitute. We will assist prisoners who are about to be released and need a place to stay during their transition back into society. It will also benefit people who are mandated by the courts or referred by hospitals or if they come off the streets and are ready to go into recovery from drugs or alcohol. As we know Jesus loves the little children therefore we will also help children who have run away from home or that have been kicked out of their homes due to behavior problems or unwed pregnancies. God’s Outstretched Hands will not be limited to these categories but our doors will open for people living with HIV or Aids also. Since we are the body of Christ we cannot just deal with a certain part but we must deal with the whole person, mind, body and soul. One of our purposes is to convert men, women and children from a life of sin and instruct them on how to change their current situations so that they will live productive lives.Homelessness is on the rise.FACT: Did you know that in 2000, a census reported that in Dutchess County alone over 2,000 individuals were served in homeless shelters?Just think of the growing number who remain in need and feel there is no hope. Partner with us to make this happen for them.FACT: Each year 100,000 New Yorkers experience homelessness. Each night over 38,000 homeless individuals sleep in the shelter system, including more than 16,000 children and 8,000 single adults. Thousands more sleep in the streets and other public places. Nearly 1 in 20 New York residents experience homelessness and the numbers aren’t getting lower. Sadly more than 2,500 people are being turned away from a hot meal and a safe place to rest for the night.Join us in making a difference.FACT: In the first six months of 2001 request for help in food pantries and soup kitchens rose by 71%.FACT: Families make up 78% of New York homeless shelter population. 1 in five children live in poverty, the typical age being under five years old. Half of these mothers have a history of domestic violence. 40% have chronic mental illness. We believe we can help improve the problem. “Reaching the lost at any cost†just isn’t our motto, it’s our goal. Our mission is to provide emergency food, shelter and clothing to those who are homeless or destitute. Some may come for transitional care while they are recovering from drugs and alcohol. We happen to realize this problem is bigger than one person or situation and it won’t go away overnight. Great news! YOU can make a difference in their lives by partnering with us to bring change into yours, mine and our communities. Let’s not turn a blind eye to this epidemic but let’s open our hearts and mind to be doers of the word instead of just hearers.
• Deuteronomy 14:28-29 Every third year, instead of using the ten percent of your harvest for a big celebration, bring it into town and put it in a community storehouse. The Levites have no land of their own, so you must give them food from the storehouse. You must also give food to the poor who live in your town, including orphans, widows and foreigners. If they have enough to eat, then the Lord your God will be pleased and make you successful in everything you do.
• Matthew 25:35-36, 40 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited me; I was in prison and you came to Me. ... And the King will answer and say to them, Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.
You might be asking yourself what could I do? Is the need that big? Can I really make a difference? The answer is Yes You Can! Philippians 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.Here’s how you can help.• Partner with us by making a donation yearly, monthly or weekly.
• Become a sponsor by taking care of one child, adult or family.
• Volunteer your services to help us advance the Kingdom of God.Since we are still organizing “God’s Outstretched Hands†and expect it to be up and running very soon. We solely depend on volunteers and donations from people like you to stay abreast of the growing need in New York. Stand with us! Lend a hand to an impoverished land.
