About Me
Jack grew up riding motorcycles, dirt and street, and listening to country music. He played baseball, football, and soccer. At age 11, he gave his life to God, took an interest in the piano and began lessons for a year. His lessons ended when his teacher moved away. Although he still had a passion for the piano, he didn’t have a teacher and he still regrets the day he gave it up. But Jack is still hanging onto the good Lord.
Then came middle school where Jack joined band class and started playing the trumpet.
Jack quickly excelled at playing the trumpet because a friend and neighbor who played it in the high school band taught Jack a lot about music and the trumpet.
During Jack's sophomore year his mother bought him a guitar from the local pawn shop. He had some other friends that played and they showed him the basics. By this time the dream of being a singer/songwriter was planted.
Jack and his friends played together until their senior year of high school. That’s when they all went their separate ways. Jack couldn’t play well enough to sit down and pick out a song from the radio, so he started to write his own songs. Writing songs seemed to come to Jack a lot easier. Around about the age of twenty-two he began to feel that all his songs had begun sounding the same, and he reached what he called a "stalemate." Jack became frustrated and he sold his guitar, gave up writing, and playing, but that wasn't the end.
One night, at the age of twenty-seven, a co-worker and good friend surprised Jack when he came to his house one night holding two guitars like the ones Jack had told him he used to play. As his his friend left that night he left jack with a rekindled dream, one that was burning out of control by morning. Jack went out that day and purchased a brand new guitar and he has been wide open ever since that magical evening.
Jack's passion for the music has kept the drive and determination going strong. Now Jack never just sits down to write a song, he just picks up his guitar when he has a chance and the songs just seem to fall out. Jack loves a song that you can listen to, not just a song that you can hear, but a song that you can feel. These are the songs that you can feel the passion that is inside of the music. These are the songs that give you the chills. There’s nothing else like it.
Now as a songwriter, Jack has spent the last few years of his life writing and recording his music. He has played for a few writers night at the hall of fame club in Nashville, he has played the Frank Browns annual songwriters festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Jack has played in various bands from rock to country.
Jack currently earns his living working in construction, (steel fabrication) and buildings. Until his dream comes true, that is what he will continue to do.
Jack lives his life by two rules:
(1) Always treat everyone the way that you want to be treated.
(2) Always do what you feel is right, no matter how it directly effects you.
For the past two years Jack has been recording a new CD, Jack Witteveen. It's finally ready and it sounds awesome! Jack would love to be able to share it with you. It’s a very big part of who he is as a man and American. It has soft ballads, kickass country, southern rock styles and a patriotic anthem. Jack wants to get his CD heard by everyone.
Jack's goals of working as a writer/performer are foremost in his future plans. Jack wants to make a lot of peoples lives better, not just his. To Jack it’s more about the music and who he is.
He would love to give more to charities and churches, employment opportunities, etc., so for now Jack is just going to keep on keeping on, plugging away at his dreams and he looks forward to seeing you at one of his concerts in the future.
Jack says "Thank you so very much for your time and interest. GOD BLESS "
