About Me

BIO:
Look, even I would feel uncomfortable telling you that I was the “Next Best Thing”. I mean, that almost sounds as if I am somehow a substitute artist; that you would be settling for me and that my talents are unexceptional at best and merely alright at worst. That would be just plain wrong. Maybe I should make the grandiose assertion that I am unequivocally the “Best Of The Next”. Hmmmmmm, although the previous statement is actually 100% true, my rhetoric would probably sound no more plausible to you than the last MC you had the misfortune of running across, trying to peddle a mixtape chock-full of half ass rhymes, tired clichés, barely believable bravado and bullshit, who claimed to be the “future” of Hip Hop.
So, how do I make you understand that the music of the man whose page you are now on is compelling and telling of a life often imitated, but never duplicated, by many of today’s less than remarkable rappers. How would I best convey to you my sincerity? How would I convince you that I’m dead ass nice with mines?
Maybe you should just play each and every song on this page ... TWICE! Yeah, go ahead, don’t be shy. Not only does my music sound good, but it’s also good for you too. Remember, Choosy People Choose Chris!
My story is laid bare for the taking and, for a limited time only, yes, I even encourage file sharing of my music. I invite you to walk with me and experience the life and times of the proverbial “good kid gone bad”. My life is an enigma. I am at all times a thinking thug and a handsome hood, who is not afraid to wild or smile.
Forgive me if I act like my shit don’t stink homie, but it really doesn’t. See, my marvelous shit has the distinct aroma of Egyptian Musk, Skunk Weed from Franklin Avenue, cocaine base, kicks fresh out of the box, Veuve Clicquot Rosé, sunflower seeds, chicken lo mein and money all combined. I’m just a half Puerto Rican and West Indian kid that was raised on Hip Hop in Brooklyn, USA. Full fledged, hood bred indeed. I am an 80’s baby, turned 90’s crimey, who stands before you today as Chris Live AKA Shaker. I’m a survivor yall and I am happy to be alive today so I can kick it with you. This is how it should be done. Listen with your heart and you will understand perfectly. You can ALL thank me later.

Influences: Musically, I draw my inspiration from life ... period. I can find art beyond the hallowed halls of the Met and I can extract beauty from pain. While, I am definitely a BK born and bred b-boy brother/that battles beats with bars/and box/with box cutters, (Yeah nigga, that's me! Patent pending ... lol.) I love all sorts of artists and bands like The Clash, Iron Maiden, The Sex Pistols, Wham, Peter Gabriel, DeBarge, Earth, Wind And Fire, The Ojays, Sade, Mary J. What A Difference A Year Makes.

This time last year I wasn't making music. No, that is not to say that I hopped aboard the MCing by numbers bandwagon in 2006, but I had (at least in my mind at the time) rather unceremoniously conclu...
