I am here for Friends

About Me

I was raised in a home where faith in Jesus was a strong influence on my life. I had the privilege of having a father as a pastor whom I could pester with my endless questions about the meaning of life. And though I had always thought very deeply about God and the meaning of Christianity, I was often very close to people who weren't like me in that respect. It became more so the nearer I came to graduating high school. In my early college years, barely any of my friends were Christians. Through conversations with them, and some books, I lost my faith. It wasn't something that I wanted to happen. Then what happened to me was exactly what Christianity predicted. As the years went by, I began to invest my energy more and more in the seeking approval from others. My decisions were made according to what would make me seem like the guy who "had it all." Something kept me from getting those things, but that Christmas I was given a book through which my life would be forever changed. This book explained how each one of us has an emptiness so deep, that nobody aside from God can fill it sufficiently. I reflected upon my life, and judged that this was true. On the last page of that book, I surrendered my life to Jesus. Since then, life has certainly not been all rosy and perfect. Trials have come along and tested my faith in many more ways than I can count, but I've persevered.

Navigating the Territory

Christianity is like a compass. The Holy Trinity is due north. Salvation is turning from whichever way you are going, and turning toward God.But what does this mean? What does it look like to turn tow...

Arg. 3: Philosophical Problems and Solutions

Over the years, several problems have confronted naturalistic philosophers, three of which I will outline here. My hope is that the reader will see that these problems arise from the naturalistic stan...

Arg. 2: Plantingas Evolutionary Argument Against Naturalism

This argument is mostly a regurgitation from my personal favorite philosopher, Alvin Plantinga. It is an argument meant to show the irrationality of simultaneously holding the belief that (1) naturali...

Arg. 1: A quick response to Atheism.

God willing, I am going to put out a series of blogs intended to work as a kind of apologetic for the Christian faith. But it first must be noted that I don't suppose any of my measly arguments would ...

Friedrich Nietzsche: On The Genealogy of Morals

It first must be understood that Nietzsche's understanding of the conscience is built on a principle called Lamarckism; a scientific belief of his time which held that an organism could pass on traits...

What people think will bring them the most happiness is what they call good. If you believe that getting attention is what will bring you happiness, then you will think that such attention is good, an...

My attack on Hume’s attack on human testimony establishing justified belief in miracles

Normally I view belief in miracles as being of much less importance to the Christian life than most Christians do. What seems more important to me is the nature of the miracles God performed: restorin...
