Hi my name is Lisa I am from Cookeville Tn and I am the captain of my Relay For Life team plus I am on the committee, this is my sixth year. Every year I do Relay for one special person last year it was for Brad Andress a true hero who died at 20 of brain cancer this year I am doing it for my best friend, my MOM. She passed away from lung cancer on Jan 13, 2008 we only knew about the cancer 4 days. She was also my teammate and walked beside me the past 5 years. I love my team they are a great group of teammates and friends. I started Relay For Life when my Grandma and Uncle Wayne both had cancer. Not long after that I found out my bestfriend had breast cancer and my other friend at the age of 27 was dying of brain cancer. I knew then I had to do something to help put a stop to all the pain. So I joined Relay For Life and I have loved every minute of it. This is one of the greatest events there is and I am glad to be part of it.
If you are interested in joining a team or having you own team let me know. Cookeville has one of the greatest Relays last year we raised 179,000.00. I know everyone always ask does the money stay here YES some of it does and some goes for research, some of the things we offer here is the Hope Lodge in Nashville it is like a Ronald McDonald House we house people who needs chemo without the traveling, we have a awsome wig room at the ACS office, we have Look good feel good, we also give gas cards to the patients who have to travel from like KY, Celina etc for chemo three days a week or so. I could just keep going this is a great cause.I would also like to say that the people in my top are either surivors, lost someone to cancer, volunteer on the committee or on a team. Thanks guys I love each and everyone of you!

Walked For You, I Walked For Me I walked around a track today: I walked to help a disease go away. I walked because there is a need. I walked that bodies could be freed. I walked to give a small child hope: I walked to help someone cope. I walked for a husband or a wife; I walked to help prelong a life. I walked with my head held high; I walked for that one about to die. I walked excitedly not demure; I walked to help find a cure. I walked for everyone to see; I walked for you, I walked for me.
